Population of Europe is ageing. The number of those over 65 in the partner countries Finland, Estonia and the Netherlands is estimated to have grown significantly by the year 2060. National and local strategies in them aim at supporting and strengthening home care of elderly people and enabling them to continue living in their own homes longer.Technology and different digital solutions will have a key role in the diagnostics of diseases and in the support, treatment and self-management of the clients/patients in social and health care. Remote care will gain ground. As health care has changed and is constantly changing, the skills needed by people working in healthcare are partly different today from the skills needed in the old days. Healthcare professionals need new skills related to technical and digital aids, solutions and systems ie. welfare technology. Views for Welfare technology to be considered during the project: •Welfare technology in evaluating and monitoring health and capability •Welfare technology in supporting independent life •Welfare technology in maintaining and increasing safety •Welfare technology in improving social interaction, involvement and participation In this project we have worked towards the goal of increasing the skills needed by today’s social and health care teachers and by today’s care workers in use of welfare technology in the changing world. Students attending the project and future students benefiting from the material produced in this project will take their knowledge and skills to their future work placements making the more experienced care workers with their training from behind years familiar with new technology and digital solutions and encouraging them to venture testing and learning new skills. Learning has taken place at school environments and in work placements during the whole project period as the students have been piloting the use and guidance of clients to use welfare technology. The project has had a role in bringing the education providers, working life and technology manufacturers closer together as constant dialogue has taken place between them during the project. This is, and has been, essential as this cooperation will be the core of future VET training. Additionally, the project aimed at promoting cooperation between different fields and levels of education. This is possible as both VET providers and Universities of Applied Sciences had a role in the project and as representatives from different fields of education were invited to the national seminars included in all 6 partner meetings. This cooperation resulted in complementary, cross-curricular KA2 project “TeamWe – Team Teaching in Welfare Technology”. The concrete product created during the project is a collection of teaching material in use of welfare technology, which is beneficial to all education providers in social and health care, as welfare technology must and will show in the curricula worldwide in the future. The product has been widely promoted and is already being used as there has been a true demand for this kind of material. The project was carried out during the period of 24 months. During this time there were three transnational meetings for staff only for planning and organizing the work and three learning, teaching and training activities with blended mobility of VET learners and accompanying teachers. During the LTT activities students and teachers piloted the agreed teaching material both in school setting and in real working environments with clients. In between project activities the teaching material collected/created during the project was tested in school environment and in real care settings.
