Project summary

AT HOME is a project in partnership with Spain, Portugal, Belgium and France. Its objective is to have students from universities and paramedical formation centers conceive intellectual productions (MOOC/Tutorial/Cellphone application/Institutional film) which will allow unemployed as well as active domestic helpers from the four partner countries to validate a set of basic skills in the home care sector. Inspired by PETRHA, a strategic partnership project selected in 2015 by the agence française 2°2f, AT HOME is based on the many adaptations and extensions having received positive réactions from the professionals in senior homecare. It will involve lifelong training institutes, employers in the home care sector, salaried employees and unemployed, academics, health and social care students, and its objective is to develop experiences and innovative interprofessionnal approaches focusing on the maintenance of senior people at home. The two main lines of work will be the developement of skills both for non qualified persons and for students, and the reinforcement of the quality of homecare services for seniors, a concern shared by many european countries. Created in a permanent interaction between practicing professionnals, academics and students, the tools are intended for non paramedical home helpers and their dual purpose is to make the basic homecare assistance secure and to increase the attraction for a job considered as unflattering although essential in the basic homecare system. - The MOOC’s purpose is to help european home helpers to aquire the set of skills defined by AEFE by using situations they come across ; - The tutorial will help to aquire the skills necessary for collective interaction and provide a feedback reaction ; - The cellphone application Gericare, composed of several module, will help the home helpers in taking the right decision when assisting their senior beneficiaries ; - The institutional film will retrace the professional history of several home helpers from each of the partner countries to promote the profession and its opportunities of promotion based on a set of skills. The validation of this set of skills for active, training or retraining professionals will be recognized in the four partner countries and the results of the impact research will promote diffusion of these tools to other countries of the european union.

Final report summary

Athome was born almost 3 years ago after a first PETRHA strategic partnership project which targeted the clinical process of rehabilitation of the elderly. During this project, we had carried out a study work with home helpers allowing us to better understand their role, in particular as a preventer, but by noting that this profession was often occupied by vulnerable people and without training. The IRFSS Nouvelle-Aquitaine, leader of the project then proposed to two of PETRHA's partners to work on the attractiveness of the home trades and on a training program. The partnership was enriched thanks to the networks of partners. There are 7 of us, spread over 4 countries, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and France who have contributed to the culmination of the ATHOME project and there are nearly 20 people, home helpers, teachers, researchers, students who have worked on the various productions. . Today it is a project fully in line with the work objectives that we had set ourselves two years ago, namely to allow European home helpers to benefit from training transferable to all European countries, to strengthen cooperation between all those involved in the home and promoting this little-known and little-considered profession. To achieve this, we have created three perfectly complementary tools by constantly collaborating with home helpers, in order to benefit from their in-depth knowledge of the field and the elderly or people with disabilities: 1- A training platform in "blended learning" allowing home helpers or learners in the context of professional training to validate the 12 transversal skills defined in the AEFA guide, contextualized in the home sector. Seven skills presented in a Mooc can be validated individually, at the rate of each learner and five others are validated in groups and face-to-face and benefit from educational support. The trainers have at their disposal tutorials offering them innovative educational solutions 2- A film promoting the profession 3- A telephone application intended for professional structures in the home and their employees All productions are translated into 4 languages English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and freely accessible on the web: www.projetathome.com www.mooc-athome.eu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl8yEypU-tI The realization of these productions was made possible by the significant investment of all partners. Beyond the meetings and activities of training planned in the project, the partners had almost weekly working meetings allowing them to adjust the work to the set schedule. In the end, the training platform including the Mooc and tutorials is even more efficient than the objective initially defined. Its large-scale test during our various dissemination events or directly with training structures or companies in the home sector confirmed its attractiveness and its educational interest in our productions. At the same time, the work carried out with home helpers, an often vulnerable public, led the IRFSS and 2 its two Belgian partners to submit a new Change Of View strategic partnership project. Selected in July 2019 as part of adult education, it aims to develop with 6 partners innovative educational proposals for people working with vulnerable audiences and bring them to change the paradigm in their work.
