Our project called "Ecological Literate Generation Will Change the Future of the Planet and Humanity in a Positive Direction" consisting of France (coordinator),Turkey, Romania, Portugal and Greece and will continue 24 months. Communication language will be English.Environmental problems reaching dangerous levels are global warming, thinning ozone layer, wasting natural sources, acid rains, becoming desert and arid, deforestation, disappearing living creatures, drought, unplanned urbanisation, water and solid pollution. Earth has still luck for recovery and this planet is ours. So, we have to take the action for durable life, drawing a route map to fulfill responsibilities to nature and develop new behaviours and manners. We have realised that our students' ecological knowledge level and attitude towards ecology are too low as a result of ecological foot print and attitude survey in our schools. Although some topics about ecology are in Science and Biology curriculum, there is no alternative training under the title of "ecology" or "ecologic literate'' and unfortunately the students are not sensitive enough. The effective way of solving ecologic problems is growing up individuals having high ecologic literate. So this project has come out with this neccessity and to produce solutions for ecologic problems. Our targets: growing ecologic literate individuals adopting sustainability as a life-style, being sensitive towards environmental problems in our planet and taking the action for solution, to have our students ecological knowledge and philosophy and provide practises in their private lives, to develop attidutes, value judgements, knowledge, skills of students and adopting them environment friendly behaviours to project ecological balance, to grow up sensitive, ,conscious, sociable, 'eco-citizen' students, protecting his/her planet as a global citizen and develop their taking responsibility skills, to raise awareness for ecological literate to take part in school curriculum and encourage using the curriculum in international level, to organise common meetings to make smaller ecologic foot print and collobrate with families, municipalities and related associations. The participants of the project are students are aged 9-15 and teachers of Science, ICT, foreign language and class teachers. Project coordinator is responsible for project management . Activities are prepared according to work plan divided 24 months. Everybody will know when, what and how the tasks will be done according to work plan. Project coordinator and school coordinators will keep in touch with each other via Facegroup, mail and whatsApp. They will have an online evaluation meeting on Skype in the end of each term. Students of partner schools will participate such activities: Nature and bird photographs exhibitions, environmental cleaning campaign, planting trees, ecologic workshop, seperating recycling materials, preparing posters to preventing wrong hunting and energy sources, celebration the world saving day, street dance shows, ecologic camp and outdoor activities, drawing and works with waste materials, interview with environmental organizations, fashion show with waste materials, cleaning the school yards etc. Outputs of strategic school partnership are: short film to adopt sustainable ecologic life to public, Ecological Literacy Magazine(e-magazine), Ecologic Life Guidebook, Ecology Agenda Project, web page, logo, seminar about ecological literacy, "Ecological Literacy" course programme with animations supported, permacult garden, project corner. The students will gain life learning durable ecological habits, they will learn feeling nature, behave as an enterprising eco-citizen and behave as possessive his planet, try to make smaller ecologic foot print, search, query, develop, produce solution, comment, add new information to previous information and use gains they get thanks to our project. Teachers will develop problem solving, innovative and creative thinking, communication skills in foreign language and prefer practise to theory. Families and stakeholders will try to use eco-friendly products and protect ecologic balance, prefer less consumption and gain awareness to protect our planet. The participant schools will plan to make international projects in coming years, collaborate with non-govermental institutions and include families to education; try to increase the quality of institutions, staff and students and prepare more effective strategic plan in long term with this project. Our relationship, friendship and sincerity will develop more between our schools and stakeholders. Stakeholders, families and others will adopt ecologic life and believe the neccessity of life ecologic for sustainable life with the impact of our project.
This project was led by schools from 5 different countries : France, Turkey, Romania, Portugal and Greece. It focuses on the environmental issue. The goal was to transform positively and ecologically each school so that it would enter a new sustainable aera. The project takes its roots on the E-Twinning platform. The whole draft was written together and once it was accepted and funded, we met up for a first meeting in lisbon where all the work, activities and mobilities were planned. Each country welcomed students and pupils to achieve the goals and objectives such as selective sorting, recycling, awareness campaigns, replanting activities. Those exchanges were really important as they put into light the pupils’s work and achievements. Troughout the project, we have put materials on the website and the Twinspace in order to disseminate as much as possible. We worked hand in hand with partners such as national parks, conservation centers or waste collecting enterprises to make sure that our actions would have an impact at school and also on the whole community. We came to the conclusion that this project allowed the whole institution to become more aware of the impending changes that are necessary in order to turn our schools into real actors of the green revolution. The activities were part of the curriculum but also offered to the pupils the chance to work differently in a more down to earth approach. The project led to new initiatives such as an “ ecological”course that is now a new possibility for our students. It reached 20 students who were directly involved in the project and the mobility activities but also all the other students (about 800) throughout the activities carried out at the school level during the two years. This project involved three staff who carried the project but also 30 other staff who participated in the activities and brought their own expertise.
