This project is science-based on Al Gore's book: The FUTURE, hence its name. The title of our project is FUTURE because we want to care about the future and even we want to shape it. We want to work on global, international problems (food, water resources, healthy lifestyle, healthcare, consequences of IT devices, energy resources, environment protection, climate change) which can be solved effectively by cooperation. The importance of sciences are raising from decades to decades as technology surround our life better and better. That is why we want to improve of scientific literacy of our youth. The demand for jobs on fields engineering, sciences, IT is raising as well. We want to help the students to get know these types of jobs. They may choose one of them as their future career. Having improved in self-confidence, in fluency at languages, in skills communication, that can be a key point for life choices, orientation. Another reason why we selected these scientific issues is because we, stakeholders, are mainly science teachers. During the two years we want to study and develop new teaching materials which are currently not in our curriculum. By these we can refresh not only ours but our colleagues’ lessons too. The other goal of our project is to find, to practice and to disseminate modern, fitting to our age and more effective learning and teaching methodologies. (self regulated learning, simulation role play, making drama, project work, making newspaper, learning by objects) We think that beside the content also the methodology is very important which should be improved too. Other main goal of our work is to practicing foreign languages. First of all English but also French and German too. The project will force the students to an intensive practice of their language skills and hopefully they become fluent at using languages. The language practice is important not only for students but for the teachers too. We want to help not only students but also teachers by creating new teaching materials, by exchanging good practice between schools, by helping them to get know colleagues from abroad and by visiting new interesting places as school, museum, universities, companies, hospitals, natural park, cities. Important part of our cooperation is the project works. We will create four of them. These outputs will force us on an intensive work which is good but hopefully the results will be a good example for others which can be used by other teachers and by other schools. Last but not least our goal is to get know each other personally, to understand each other better. It is important and every time very useful to have cooperation with people from other nations and sharing a common goal is a good idea. We always can learn. We want to teach our students how to live peacefully together, how to agree, how help each other, what are the values of human rights and democracy. In our previous cooperation the students always said: "the topic is relevant; the work is good, strategy is fine but when do we meet?" We want to fulfil this wish too. Europe has been awarded the Nobel Prize a few years ago. We need to follow our elders in this era of peace despite the terrorism threat. We want to disseminate our result by as many channels as possible. (articles in paper based and on online newspaper, teacher and students conferences and meeting, social network sites, exhibitions, theater play) We have the willingness to share the project works with as many people as we can in our schools and in our cities and even in our nations. Future is not to fear. Future belongs to us. We don't owe the planet; we borrowed it from our kids. We need to build up new friendships. Always!
Our project, based on Al Gore’s book entiteld «Future », deals with our future through some of its anthropogenic and natural components. Our objectives were : - a greater autonomy in the use of the English language - an improvement of students’ language skills in English - an awareness of environmental and energy issues - a thought on the use of new technologies and their consequences We succeeded in performing 4 mobilities, each one dealing with one topic observed in Al Gore’s book, that is to say : - In Hungary, we worked on the Big Date issue - In France, we focused on human health : food resources and biodiversity (former wheats), food which may exist tomorrow (GMO, spherified food) but also the ‘connected ‘ health (with the rise of all health sensors such as heart beats , mass, the number of steps…) - In Germany, the topic concentrated on energies : how to get rid of nuclear energy ? What are the energies of the future ? - In Romania, earth natural ressources were the last subject we dealt with (the Overshoot Day) Before each international mobility, some pre-activities , mostlly based on documentary researches and the preparation of documents in order to anticipate those meetings, were organized in each country. Those documents were shared as far as possible. Slide shows were also made and used for that purpose. After each mobility, a report was delivered. Some surveys were also fulfilled. All those activities can be found on the Twinspace entitled « Future » with the following link : https://twinspace.etwinning.net/43815/home All the participants were pupils, most of them studying in High schools. They all volunteered for this project. As for the teachers, they were also willing to take part in that project, being totally involved in it. Outcomes and impacts - openness to others thanks to this international cooperation which lasted 2 years - awareness of the different European citizens’ ways of life - discovery of new cultures different from ours - matching between French and Romanian schools - a longer mobility (one month) was established between France anf Hungary ( creating bonds of friendship not only between adults but also between young people who asked to be invoved in that extra linguistic exchange programme of one month) Long-term benefits We hope that we will manage to carry on this cooperation through other projects We have already worked on a new project, submitting it as a new KA2 project, with two of our partners (Hungary and Romania) Another one-month exchange with Hungary has already been considered. We are also considering the request of a new partner (a school in Riva del Garde, Italy) to establish a one-week exhange
