Project summary

Nations’ Puzzle Nations are little pieces of the puzzle of our world. The lack of any can disrupt the unity. What would the world be without and what will it be with us in the future? We are working on three different topics, namely on science and technology, art and society. Our Strategic Partnership has been established to shoot an international digital film having 3-4-minute episodes, called Puzzle films that present our past and current activities focusing on the above-mentioned topics. Furthermore, it models an international start-up, which can give a glimpse into our future. The open-ended introduction of problems can provoke thoughts and encourage viewers to think about them very carefully. In this way, further episodes can be shot and added to the film. The aim of the cooperation is to improve the participants’ digital and language competence while creating the film and enhance the profile of the teaching profession via acquiring new teaching methods. We are going to make some resource to the Puzzle films to help and boost the process of building these materials into the procedure of learning and teaching at school. The Puzzle films will be shot in Hungarian, Spanish, Italian and English as well. The partnership involves three institutions from different countries that are engaged in primary and secondary education. They are the Gyöngyösi Berze Nagy János Grammar School in Hungary, the IES Sierra de Guadarrama in Madrid, Spain and the IIS „Basile-D’Aleo” di Monreale in Sicily, Italy. Since the participants recognised the chance of a long-term developmental process, they were really enthusiastic about joining us. Within the framework of this partnership, they can have more modern classes and they can choose the core subject matter of their workshops without restrictions using the end-product of the project. The target group of the project is students aged between 14-18 and also, teachers. The language of the project is English and its duration is 28 months. During this time, we are planning four international meetings for the partner institutions and we are going to accomplish three short-term Student Mobility Programs. These will be very important occasions of gaining personal experience, doing researches, planning playful games and applying them in practice. We are going to prepare and compile the ingredients of the films during the Student Mobility Programs, where cooperative work forms will be in focus. A Europass Mobility Card will be made for each participant of the occasions of Student Mobility Programs. Equal participation of the partner institutions is essential to carry out the project, each school must do its share according to its knowledge and possibilities. There is no hierarchy between the pieces of the Puzzle, each part is equally important and they only together can make a whole.

Final report summary

The main purpose of our application was to establish a partnership which was able to accomplish all the tasks we had set in the application process. In other words, shooting a series of international digital film with 3-4 minute episodes called Puzzle films to give a glimpse into our past, our present activities and model an international start-up. We managed to complete all the assigned tasks that we had previously prepared for at the occasions of Transnational Meetings. Also, the participant students with the help of their teachers shot the Puzzle films during the Mobility Programmes that were shown in several forums and made available for the public. Furthermore, students created some extra material to the movies and we hope that they will be built into our everyday teaching and learning process from the beginning of the next school term. Parallel to the Puzzle films, students worked on the basic idea of the start-up application. Besides developing new teaching and learning materials, our goal was to improve the participants’ foreign language and digital competence while doing the above-mentioned activities. Moreover, we wanted to support the profile of the teaching profession. We noticed that our students’ English speaking skills developed a lot and they became more open-minded during the 28-month cooperation while getting more and more information about other cultures. Not only the students, but also colleagues could make new friends, learn new methods and techniques and broaden their mind. Meeting the requirements and fulfilling our responsibilities became a common and a personal success for both the students and teachers, as well. The process of getting personal experience, doing research, planning digital worksheets and testing them are activities that made us richer in knowledge and experiences and put emphasis on group work and cooperative learning which are essential to students regarding their future.
