Project summary

For many years issues concerning how we relate to each other (interpersonal) and how we relate to ourselves (intrapersonal) at the forefront of many minds. Educators across the globe work with their students to help them recognise the important part they can play in their own emotional wellbeing and mental health. It was agreed that our theme would relate to tackling issues of mental health and emotional wellbeing in a fun and innovative way. There will be 6 partners from different areas of Europe give the project a good sense of diversity and and each partner country will learn about and learn from issues such as mental health, emotional education and what makes children happy/sad. Playground games, visual and creative arts, drama and role play will be used to help our partners learn about the social, personal and health (mental) education we do in school and give us the opportunity to show how playground games can be used to create exciting learning opportunities. Pupils will also become more familiar with the partner countries, learning about their geography, language and culture. In the 3 years of the partnership the projects we carry out will specifically relate to promoting happiness and wellbeing inside and outside of school: -Each school will collate a book of poems loosely based on the theme of Healthy Mind - Each school to collate a book of 10 playground games the children play at lunchtime. - Pupils will visit a local Community Hospital/ Retirement Home/Nursing Home or its equivalent to play music and sing songs. They aim of this is to bring joy and happiness to others lives. The children may also choose to play some games with the residents. - Develop a comic character and produce a comic strip for publication. When writing their own comic strip the children will be encouraged to include moral problems, conflict resolution and common problems encountered by children everyday inside and outside of school - Each school will design A2 or A3 posters promoting 'Mental & Emotional Wellbeing'. Each school will provide digital copies of the posters for each partner country - Design and make puppets to perform role play/drama based on problems encountered on social media e.g. cyber bullying We hope the project will have a long term impact on all participants by helping them become aware of how to feel good about themselves,, how to help others fell good and how to deal with positive and negative thoughts. Students move through a school and we hope our project will give students lifelong tools they can carry with them in their journey beyond school. We also hope that schools will adopt and implement elements of the project they found beneficial and worthwhile beyond the official conclusion of the project.

Final report summary

Our Project focussed on Metal Health and Playground games. We wanted to lessen the dependency children have on IT, Tblets and electronic devices and increase their interaction with each other through play. By doing this we hoped to develop their intra personal skills, interpersonal skills and improve their mental health. Our project involved the children being active participants and we assessed our aims and outcomes through feedback prom children, teachers, parents and the wider community. You will see in the rest of the form the acitivities we engaged in and how we achieved our targets.
