Project summary

NE(W)AVE – reNEWAble e-Vet lEarning - project idea responds to three main priorities: * Social inclusion * Developing VET business partnerships aimed at promoting work-based learning in all its forms *Introducing systematic approaches to, and opportunities for, the initial and continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors in both school and work-based settings. NE(W)AVE intends to answer to the main need to revise & upgrade the skills of VET learners, NEETS and professionals to promote occupation in the renewable energy sector. The EU 2020 Strategy is going to convert our economic system towards a resource-efficient, low-carbon economy and the green economy represents one of the key strategic domains for employability and economic growth. This transition will lead to a progressive redefinition of jobs across all sectors involved and redefinition of technical and soft skills. The NE(W)AVE partnership – creating a business VET partnership composed by VET Providers, No profit and Companies from Italy, Austria, Denmark, Greece and Spain – shares a common recognition of these increasing needs and the believe that innovative short, tailor-made courses could aim to “recycle” technical and mechanical skills and to develop transversal ones. After a verified close collaboration, a trustful geographically balanced network has been developed. Agreed objectives and tasks distribution led to the development of NE(W)AVE project aimed to: * contribute to increase the employability and inclusion of NEETs and VET learners developing VET business partnerships in the renewable energy field based on work-based learning; * upgrade the professional opportunities of young workers in the field by aligning their competences to specific ones required into the mentioned sector promoting CVET; * promote innovative learning opportunities in VET developing, testing, adapting & implementing a NE(W)AVE Open Online Course (OOC) on renewable energy, aimed to revise existing technical skills together with the development of transversal & soft skills; * support VET trainers' & mentors professional development offering an E-toolkit based on brand new training material and scheme. Pursuing those objectives, NE(W)AVE promotes European cooperation and exchange to improve VET offer related to renewable energy skills using an inclusive/cross-sectoral approach and building strong partnerships between education and employment. Even if each project’s Intellectual Output has autonomous life, it can be conceived as part of step-by-step process and each of them is heavily interlinked. In fact: -Research on skills needed for jobs related to renewable energy (IO1)→ Desk and in-field research involving green companies and VET providers in each country. Overall report including countries findings, identification of skills mismatch and existing VET offers in the sector, guidelines and recommendation on e-course development and on competence development needs [preparatory to IO2] -NE(W)AVE OOC for VET learners (IO2) → developed through a shared, cross-sectoral and inclusive process, piloted also including work-based mobility experience, it consist of 3 main units about: soft skills; technical skills; employability. Addressed to TG1 - VET learners/NEETs and young professionals who are completing or have completed VET pathways in the field of mechanics, plumbers, industry technician/operator, electric & heating installer, electronic/mechatronic technician [groundwork for the development of IO3] O3_NE(W)AVE E-toolkit for VET Trainers (IO3) → training tool addressed to VET trainers (TG2), integrates IO2 in order to allow the transfer of project’s approach, methodologies and content in an independent way O4_NE(W)AVE Policy Recommendation (IO4) → addressed to Policy makers and stakeholders in the field of VET and renewable energies (TG3), it exploits project’s results and highlights the impact of the IOs in terms of starting point for future cooperation and closer synergies between VET providers/No-profit &Companies (in the renewable energy field, in the specific case).
