The topic of migration is rooted in each country’s history and it is linked to recent European events. If attention is drawn to that, students can get to understand the phenomenon and its causes in a broad sense. Meeting ethnic groups, see how they perceive, keep or build their identities in the hosting country will offer an opportunity to get to know other social realities, to build, through a dialogue with communities and associations, a bridge over differences promoting initiatives in favour of a transnational and well managed dialogue involving local communities, authorities and ethnic groups, and an opportunity to comply with the search and application of the digital approach for an inclusive teaching. Project partners are: Italy, Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France. They found each other on the e-Twinning platform on the basis that they all share the experience of hosting minorities in social life as well as in schools. Target groups are students, school staff, local authorities/associations, communities, ethnic groups. Needs have been identified as follows: comply with European priorities in educational matters; increase students' awareness about migration and inclusion;reduce early school leaving; improve teaching methodology towards a cross-curricular, experiential and digital direction; bring young students closer to scientific research; develop multilingualism, ICT skills and PBL; provide in-service teacher training for experimental teaching. To meet these needs we intend to pursue general goals divided in three major areas: curricular relevance, promotion of a scientific attitude towards daily matters, European citizenship. Specific objectives are: use scientific tools to investigate on migration/settlement patterns, systematize information, comparatively document/assess ethnological factors in migrant lifestyles; entail the students’ ability to involve themselves in the implementation of interculturalism, cooperate with local/regional authorities and migrant communities to foster solutions; integrate digital/multimodal supports into the curriculum, develop ICT based activities, foster entrepreneurial skills for future life; promote European citizenship and multilingualism. The transnational approach will allow to compare European migration/settlement patterns; find out (common) European policies about the topic; overcome national cultural boundaries to head to a shared European identity and respect of human values. Partners have experiences with exchange programmes and some have already started the digital curriculum, so this project is complementary to previous projects and is innovative for topic addressed and for its methodology: it implies the PBL and the digital approach. During the project preparation regular communication between the project partners has been maintained to achieve mutual knowledge, exchange, shared scheduling and task sharing. Each school will appoint an Erasmus+ staff and a dissemination team(teachers/students). Selection of the candidates will be transparent and open to everyone. Activities will include: data collection and processing; interviews to migrant/minorities; digital output (Human mobility chart, videos, digital magazine, blog, project website, eTwinning project) and traditional outputs (brochures, the Chart of interculturalism, agreements with municipalities/local and regional associations and stakeholders) production. The project includes: TPM, with a coordination/implementation goal; Short term joint staff events, for staff to get a deeper knowledge of the topic and of the ICT issues to further motivate students; LTTA, to allow staff and students mutual knowledge and exchange and reinforce European citizenship; in-between activities carried out by each school for preparation/implementation/dissemination:they will involve local/regional communities, migrants and people with lesser opportunities for comparison and shared construction of proposals. Focus will be given to digital dissemination which is immaterial and less money-consuming. The media will manage the official information at a regional/national level. The website and the flipped teaching website will represent a permanent repository which will grant sustainability. Events will be organised by each institution. Impact will have effects on the participating and education-related organizations, so that the EU program is fully inserted in the school development strategy. ICT will help to develop soft skills -logics, adaptability, reuse of materials - and the opportunity to work in a net-style. The result will be an upgrade of the school curriculum, the creation of an inclusive environment which will increase motivation and reduce early school leaving. Exploitation will also allow to transfer results to decision-makers in local, regional, national or European systems but it can also reach individual end-users who can adopt and eventually reuse new curricula and outputs.
