Project summary

Context/background of the project: Different Open and innovative practices in the digital era became essential to adult education. Open education resources, Nano open Online Courses (NOOCs), have become the main means for adult learning. Today, open education is based on digital technology to support teaching and learning. It is very important because it allows to show video cases for professional development. NOOCs method is based on presenting short, very well structure-based video courses. It helps improving and extending the supply of high quality learning opportunities, tailored to the needs of individual low-skilled or low-qualified adults. In European dimension, an important issue that has still to be explored is the applicability in contexts where competences and skills owned by low qualified have to be considered. In this case, equivalence rules enabling a comprehensive comparison of qualifications from different education and training systems are often unavailable. Moreover, there are situations (like, for instance, in the human resource acquisition phases) were a check on owned qualifications is not sufficient. Training is an area where hiring low skilled had little impact. Low skilled were generally seen to have the same training needs as co-workers, usually because the business had ‘standard’ training provision in place for all employees. However, in a few instances, low skilled required different or additional training, most commonly to improve their social and job skills or to address cultural and communications issues. ADU-NOOC will assure the recognition of the existing competences by using assessment tool and will encourage development of new competences for low skilled people in the Europe. According to the Strategic framework – Education & Training 2020 Adult learning is crucial for low qualified people as they may require different skills from those that they used in their countries of origin for their new careers. Objectives of the project: The aim of the project- to engage low skilled adults for recognition of the existing skills and competences and to develop new skills and competences by taking NOOCs method based training programme. The objectives are: 1. To develop Assessment tool for recognition qualifications and competences of low skilled people. 2. To increase the motivation and reduce disparities in learning outcomes of low skilled adults by suggesting digital program based on NOOCs method for new skills and competences development; Number and profile of participants: Target groups: low skilled, low qualified people and disadvantaged groups (totally 210). Description of activities: The following main activities will be carried out during the project: Creating of assessment tool for self-assessment of low skilled and qualified adults; Creating of the training program to develop competences of low skilled and low qualified adults; Creating of the methodology for adult's educators on running training program and assessment tool; One-day national workshop for adult's educators will be organized in all partner countries (LT, GR, IE, ES) in January, 2019; National multiplier events for stakeholder and local communities will be organized in all partner countries (LT, GR, IE, ES); European Conference in Lithuania in August 2019; The learning/training activity will be organized in October 2018 in Greece. Methodology to be used in carrying out the project: While carrying out the project, face to face and online meetings with the partners will be organized. Discussions about project management and implementation will be held during these meetings; received feedback will be taken into consideration. Results and impact envisaged, the potential longer term benefits: The project outcomes O1, O2, O3, (attractive and innovative training program for low skilled adults), based on the project partners’ best experience will increase the number of adults with new competences. Adults educators are not always ready for working with low skilled groups and for thus the project will help them new necessary competences. We expect that qualified adult educators with the help of the ADU NOOC idea and will motivate large number of low skilled groups to get skills and competences and to participate more actively in learning and later in the labor market.
