Project summary

Protection from the noise and provision of comfort of life and work for society is presently one of the most significant challenges of the civilisation. Noise is one of the most widely and most frequently experienced problems of the industrial working environment. The idea of implementing new e-learning and teaching methods originated from the need to enhance practical industrial acoustic knowledge. The main purpose of the courseware is to innovatively fill the gap in recent VET education programmes and to increase specialists’ awareness about the role acoustic comfort plays in the life of human beings. It is assumed that the project while its implementation, as well as its results, will let: - acquire knowledge and skills in industrial acoustics, - increase consciousness of engineers concerning the role of acoustics and acoustic comfort, - develop professional knowledge and extend possibilities of professional development. Major recipients of acoustic courses are: engineers of various specialisations (EHS specialization, mechanical, process and environmental engineering) who use acoustic expertise in their daily work and whose expertise they do not acquire in a manner satisfactory during their studies. The construction of trainings will let engineers not only work independently and bring their skills in industrial acoustics to perfection, but also it will deliver a modern tool for constant professional improvement of teachers, trainers and educational mentors at a workplace. The implemented project is not a single event, but a big part of the vast strategy aiming at extending and strengthening knowledge on acoustics, supporting development of innovative teaching methods based on attractive and innovative transfer of content, services, methodology of teaching and practices on domestic and international level. The result of the project is an innovative method of learning and teaching that promote open and innovative education with the use of ICTs. Engineer knowledge is usually presented in a written form, with formulas, technical drawings. To present it in a new, visually attractive form will surely interest and draw engineers. The visualization of phenomena, mechanisms of generating the noise, acoustic solutions with the use of virtual reality will let better understand the issues discussed and easily convert acquired knowledge into concrete situations and problems present in an engineer’s work. The development of VR technology to date mainly concerns entertainment industry and is used for movie documentation (nature documentaries, commentaries). The results of this project constitute an example of synergy between initiatives undertaken in research and innovation as well as to promote to use new technologies to transfer scientific and engineering knowledge. Industrial Acoustics Course will consist of 3 modules: NOISE, IMAPCT OF NOISE ON HUMANS and ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE. Each module will consist of several lessons. Each lesson consists of three elements: teaching materials, knowledge-testing materials and case studies as VR-360 and 3D-VR-360 videos. Effects can be watched on a computer or using the VR headset. The courses will be placed on the platform designed and developed by KFB Polska- ACOUSTIC COURSEWARE PLATFORM with results from other educational projects and supported by European Universities, campanies, societes and acoustic organizations.

Acoustics Course for Industry (ACI) consists of few modules: Noise, Impact of noise on humans, Environmental and occupational noise, and Noise management. Educational materials include case studies, sound samples, interactive content, and VR-360 videos. Effects can be watched on a computer or using the VR headset. The course is placed on the platform designed and developed by KFB Acoustics- ACOUSTIC COURSEWARE PLATFORM with results of other educational projects. Platform is supported by European Universities, companies, societies. ACI web: https://aci.acoucou.org/
