The project "Adventurous Maths and Science" focuses on the exchange of good practice in teaching and learning mathematics and natural sciences and computer science and their connection with the functioning of the labor market. We want to encourage young people to invest time in learning mathematics and natural science, highlight the opportunities they bring, and improve the language skills of young people and teachers. In addition, the purpose of the project is to skillfully use the Internet and ICT tools in learning and teaching. We also want to emphasize the possibilities of effective learning and working in the European Union. Students improve their skills and motivation by participating in innovative math, science and technology classes, and career counseling sessions. The implementation of modern science teaching and the inclusion of new technologies in teaching and learning will allow teachers to improve their professional qualifications. Thanks to project activities, pupils and teachers will improve social, cultural, intercultural and linguistic skills, better understand partner countries and Europe and strengthen intercultural awareness in the European dimension. The project will directly involve 40 students and 12 teachers from Poland and a similar number of pupils and teachers from partner countries. Students will come from classes in which mathematics is not taught as an extended subject as well as from mathematical, physical and IT and biological and chemical classes. The partners will organize a math contest, short exchanges for young people, workshops for partner school teachers and video conferences between project partners. Teachers will plan and conduct innovative lessons based on good practice in partner schools and they will get recommendations of educational institutions. Thanks to the math competition, a large group of students will be motivated to learn the subject and their results will be satisfactory. Students will also participate in workshops or events organized by educational or scientific institutions and a vocational counselor. They will plan and conduct scientific experiments. School communities will have the opportunity to see science exhibition in the school corridor. As a result of the above activities, the following products will be obtained: - a book contqaining aninternational collection of mathematical tasks - a book of lesson plans with photocopiable materials and links - multilingual dictionary - films presenting scientific experiments - films about famous scientists - documentation of case studies - an exhibition on mathematics and science - project website. We hope that the project will interest students in mathematics and life sciences which will translate into better results in current assessments and success in high school final exams. We want students to see the correlation between the need to learn science and the requirements of the labour market. We want students to use the internet in an efficient and secure way. We want the project to bring long-term benefits such as the use of modern teaching methods and techniques, change in students' attitudes towards maths and sciences and an attractive image of mathematics and science among students.
The project "Adventurous Maths and Science" project focused on the exchange of good practices in teaching and learning mathematics and natural sciences as well as computer science and their connection with functioning on the labor market. Our goal was to encourage young people to invest time in learning mathematics and natural sciences, to highlight the opportunities offered by these subjects and to improve the language skills of young people and teachers. In addition, the goal of the project was to learn how to use the internet and ICT tools in learning and teaching. We also drew attention to the possibilities of effective learning and working in the European Union. Students raised their competences and motivation by participating in innovative educational classes in mathematics, science, technology and through a meeting with a vocational counselor. The implementation of modern science teaching and the inclusion of new technologies in teaching and learning have enabled teachers to improve their professional qualifications. Thanks to project activities, students and teachers have increased social, cultural, intercultural and language skills, got to know partner countries and Europe better, and strengthened intercultural awareness in the European dimension. The project involved 40 students and 12 teachers from Poland and 12 students 4 teachers from each of the partner countries. Students were recruited from classes in which mathematics is not an extended subject, as well as from mathematics, physics and IT as well as biological and chemical classes. The partners organized a mathematics competition in their schools, and then the school-project coordinator organized the International Mathematics Competition, short trips of young people, workshops for teachers of partner schools and video conferences between project partners. Teachers planned and conducted innovative lessons based on good practices learned in partner schools and the recommendations of educational institutions. Thanks to the mathematics competition, wide groups of students from upper secondary and junior high schools were motivated to learn this subject and their matura exam results were satisfactory. Students also participated in workshops or events organized by educational or scientific institutions and a career counselor. Teachers and students planned and conducted scientific experiments. School communities of the partner schools had the opportunity to see science exhibitions in the school corridor. In connection with the above activities, the following products were obtained: - international set of tasks in mathematics - set of outlines - a multilingual dictionary - films presenting scientific experiments - films about famous scientists - case study tasks documentation - exhibition on mathematics and science - project website. Thanks to the implementation of the project, students achieve better results in current assessment in mathematics and natural sciences, which translated into success at the matura exam. Through participation in the project, students saw a correlation between the need for science learning and the requirements of the labor market, and learned to use the internet in an efficient and secure way. Participation in the project caused that teachers became convinced to the use of modern teaching methods and techniques and among students increased motivation to learn mathematics and science.
