Project background: Young people with fewer opportunities are target groups in many social and educational programs. Nevertheless the goal is not fully reached as very often the young people with higher education, with rather wealthy parents, with no or less social obstacles and with easy access to information are taking the opportunities that are offered through international youth exchanges, voluntary services and other international youth programs. Additionally, despite the RAY research and other impact studies we do not really know much about all the "impact" international mobility projects have on young people with fewer opportunities and - even more - which "bridges" can be built to better reach and accompany the "not so accessible" young people. In this project organisations are involved who are experienced in working with groups of young people that need additional support and don't easily take part in international mobility projects. They have been working together before in different projects and these co-operations were very successful - in terms of building trust concerning the "common ground" of how to work with young people with fewer opportunities and sharing attitudes and (pedagogical) approaches. Aims and objectives: 1. How to involve young people with fewer opportunities not only in the exchanges, but also in preparation and (long-term) evaluation processes and even in the processes of developing project ideas and realize them. 2. How can blended learning and digital tools be used to involve young people not only for single projects but also to support a network between each other and between them and the organisations working with them? 3. What are the impacts on young people (with fewer opportunities) who take part in international mobility projects? We will do a (rather little) quality research on it and document learning and personal developing processes by interviews, questionnaires, videos. Number and Profile of participants The target group that we are focusing at is much more dependent on support for participating in projects, especially transnational projects, than those with "easier" backgrounds. The partner organisations are already directly working with young people with fewer opportunities - some with no or low educational qualifications, with migrant backgrounds, regional disadvantages and some experiencing disadvantages because of their gender. Thus, this is the profile of participants that we are aiming at, there will be about 40 young people with fewer opportunities involved in the blended mobilities. Additionally, there will be at least 24 youth workers, trainers, staff of youth organisations as participants of the staff trainings. Activities Transnational project meetings will serve the project management, monitoring and preparation of next steps in the project. Half of these 6 meetings will be meetings between staff of the participating organisations and young people with fewer opportunities representing "their" groups. Thus, they will be included in the developing of the project. Two international staff trainings will offer the possibility in training tools needed for this project: blended learning methods, reflection tools, digital learning tools, media competences (film, video, visual tools) and methods for including young people with fewer opportunities and motivating them for active participation. 2 youth exchanges for young people with fewer opportunities will be part of the project. They are blended mobility projects, combining the youth exchanges with preparation and communication through internet and digital learning parts. They will be prepared by the partners but also by young people, especially those, who have been involved in the planning within the "extended project group". An international multiplier event with 50 participants from different organisations working with the same target groups, being connected to partners and/or interested in the project is planned at the end of the project. There we will focus on the overall evaluation and presentation of the project for dissemination purposes. Results, impact and longer term benefits Expected results are: - new ideas for strategies to develop participatory projects for young people with fewer opportunities - documentation of the project, its elements, methods, results and impacts by: 1. Films, videos and other visual material for the learning processes and impact on the young people with fewer opportunities 2. An article summarizing the setup of the project, strategies, methods, results (data collected by interviews, questionnaires etc.) Further impacts (apart from those on the young people) would be that the strategies and methods developed and used in this project serve as best practice for the further work of our organisations but moreover as examples for others working with young people with fewer opportunities in international and European settings.
