Project summary

Non-Formal education is being more and more used inside and outside of youth work, and the search for methods and tools that any trainer or youth worker can use, is increasing. There are already some toolboxes like the ones by SALTO, but those platforms are very text-based in describing the methods and tools. Responding to the growing trend and preference of learners to watch video tutorials for acquiring new competences, as well as to bring in an innovative and sustainable approach in the training of trainers and educators, this strategic partnership project aims at producing video tutorials on methods and considerations in non-formal education. In the big picture, we want to contribute to quality in youth work and education by providing an efficient, innovative and open tool for the development of competences of trainers and educators. AIM Our main aim is to: -> Promote non-formal education and raise the quality and impact in education and youth work by providing free access to visual learning tools of methods and exercises to youth workers, educators and other people interested, so it can be used to design and facilitate group activities for young people and other learners. OBJECTIVES 1) Enrich the offer of free tools which contribute to the professional development of facilitators and trainers. 2) Support new trainers and facilitators by presenting in visual way methods and exercises of NFE. 3) Use ICT tools to facilitate learning competences of non-formal education methods and exercises 4) Increase the level of digital competence among youth workers and educations and encourage them to use more digital tools in their work 5) Promote non-formal education by creating, developing and promoting explanatory videos 6) Provide free online access to non-formal education methods The main key participants will be: trainers, designers, youth workers, educators, other technicians, youth workers and new trainers. For each transnational meeting we will have 8 participants (2 per partner) and for the training we will have 22 participants. The main activities are: project management (budget control, quality measurement, communication between partners, evaluation, etc.), 3 transnational meetings (Netherlands May 2018, Portugal January 2019, Austria May 2019)), one training activity (Austria, September 2018), 4 multiplier events, and the production of 3 different IOs The main methodologies used during the project will be Dragon Dreaming and Design Thinking (for the development of the outputs). During the training activity and transnational meetings, we will use non-formal methods, like discussions, working in small groups, brainstorming, etc. The main results expected are: -> easy-to-understand short educational videos on basic tools and approaches in non-formal education produced (this also includes a selection of relevant topics and tools, as well as the production of a visual vocabulary and storyboard) -> junior trainers/facilitators/educators trained in basic tools and approaches in non-formal education, as well as in how to produce video tutorials -> videos tested with different types of educators and institutions -> videos disseminated via Guild's web platform, as well as through existing toolboxes, libraries and MOOCs -> feedback on videos gathered, survey completed for identification of follow-up project and further videos to be produced -> maintenance of long term cooperation of the consortium of partners and development of other projects and activities together; -> raise awareness of NFE methods, as well as increasing the use of ICT tools by all partners and people participating directly and indirectly -> changes in individuals and organisations concerning their attitude and competences towards trainings and trainer’s work as well NFE methodologies. -> improved competences of staff related with project management, ICT tools, research and training. As long term we expect: - Follow up project, with the production of more videos, with specific methods of NFE and Training, like graphic facilitation, theatre, humor, etc. - Creation and development of a MOOC (Massive Online Open Course), using the outputs already created - With the video manual with guidelines on how to create video tutorials, other people will be able to upload more videos and keep growing the video library. -Contact and cooperate with other stakeholders, presenting the outputs, transfering knowledge, facilitating activities with the experience and knowledge acquired during this project; -Continue the cooperation between all the partners involved and develop other activities and projects in cooperation; -Make contacts with possible sponsors and supporters to further development of the outputs and creation of new ones. We have clear idea that the outputs are only the beginning. We can develop further more, with other methods and exercises. - Translation of the outputs for the languages of the partners and possible from other countries.
