Project summary

Our project is aimed at sharing information about the past, culture, traditions and customs of the regions of the individual countries involved in the project. However, the aim is not simply to communicate information, but rather to find common European values that all our countries associate. We have searched partner schools through the e-twining platform, but not accidentally. Each of the countries involved was, at some point, the creator and initiator of progress in a common Europe, the creator of a common culture and values. The basic target of the project is the creation of tourist guides, exchange of literary works among participants, mutual learning of traditional customs - for example, dance. As part of the project, we will also pay attention to the important anniversaries of individual countries - 100 years from the birth of Czechoslovakia, 500 years after the death of Leonardo da Vinci. Pupils will communicate with each other and exchange their work while attending classes at host schools. For participating teachers, it will also be an opportunity to gain new methods and forms of teaching in other countries, which they will then be able to apply in their practice. Within each visit, we will organize a local event for the public, where we will present the results of our project, as well as pupils will perform cultural performances. All information on the implementation of the project will be published on the project website, in the regional press and through the e-twinning. Four primary or secondary schools - the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy and Portugal - are involved in the project, with individual visits (four planned in total) involving 2 teachers and 6 pupils, including pupils with social and economic handicaps. Pupils involved in the project will be aged between 10 and 14 years. When implementing the project, we will also use e-twining to communicate with each other. The implementation of the whole project will be managed by the coordinator, the other members will ensure the creation of partial goals and the implementation of the final evaluation. We would like to follow up on the project by further developing cooperation on sub-themes among the participating schools. In the long run, the project is beneficial by developing common values for Europeans and democracy among our pupils and developing positive attitudes towards the current European Union. The underlying motto of our project is the assertion that in the knowledge of the past we find what brings us together in today's common Europe - a common culture and democratic values.

Final report summary

Our joint project was focused on sharing information about the past, culture, traditions and customs of the partner countries, schools and their regions. It was the first partnership between schools, so mutual cultural knowledge was very important. Compared to the original plan, only three schools took part in the project, and the Greek school withdrew from the project at the beginning. We dealt with this change in such a way that the project coordinator (the Czech school) took over the tasks of the Greek school as well as the organization of the last international meeting. As part of the project implementation, we tried to proceed according to the schedule we set in the application. The main problem of implementation was the coronavirus pandemic in the spring of 2020, which made it impossible to hold the last meeting in the Czech Republic. Thanks to that, we extended the project until January 2021 and planned the meeting in the autumn. Unfortunately, the epidemiological situation made it impossible to act at this time. The problem also occurred on the part of the Italian school, where during the summer of 2020 the institution involved changed. Despite these difficulties, most of the outputs were realized and the basic goals of the project were met - mutual knowledge of cultures of all countries, development of communication in English, development of awareness common European belonging. Teachers had the opportunity to exchange experiences during international meetings, attend classes and gain inspiration for their own professional development. We managed to create a communication platform on e-twining, however, over time we switched to more suitable applications Whatsapp or Zoom, through which students and teachers were in contact. We managed to realize most of the outputs, which, in contrast to the original intentions, take the form of videos and are published on the project's website - www.erasmus-dolany.cz. During the international meetings, all participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture and historical monuments of the region of each school, we also focused on important anniversaries that were taking place. The main outputs of the project are: video presentations of individual schools and regions, video presentations about international meetings and other partial works - brochure with quizzes, video presentations on Christmas culture, traditions, monuments of the region, video with project evaluation, video presentations on common European values and tourist guide in the form of a summary of videos and a brochure. Everything is published on the project website www.erasmus-dolany.cz, which was administered by the project coordinator.
