Project summary

The main objective of the project is to exchange good practices among the involved participants by comparing selected issues of own culture and national heritage. Moreover, the project is intended to raise awareness of own culture and deal with the diversity of the members of the European Union in comparison with the trend of globalization. An international partnership with other European schools means for us the opportunity to compare selected issues of culture and national heritage and to learn from each other about each other and about ourselves, too. Each country will involve approximately 60 students (aged 15-17) to take part in the project both the years directly and permanently in their classes and other up to 90 occassionally. As far as teachers concern, 5 will be permanently included and other 10 at some parts of the project. The students will work in a variety of groupings, mainly in pairs, groups, classes to support the ideas of teamwork, self-respect, effective communication and leadership. Participants will work systematically according to a set timetable from September 2018 to June 2020 to produce study materials in the form of presentations, video clips, posters, an exhibition, a questionaire to provide valuable information on historical events, personalities, customs and traditions to be used in the lessons and outside the school, too. We intend to encourage participants´ creativity and motivate them to apply several forms of different skills ranging from handcrafts, performing, film making, computing, etc. During the mobility visits participants will have a great opportunity to apply the findings about their own culture directly as guides to their guests. To provide essential facts about the project the involved schools will inform the public via their school websites and will set up an individual webpage to present the details of the project. To disseminate the findings participants will organize workshop days for their local school facilities and display the materials in schools and other facilities for parties interested. The concrete long term potential of the project will be definitely proved by the usage of the created study materials for learning and teaching about the diversity of European culture. The exhibition about Pavel Tigrid will also be available for parties interested after the project will have finished. What is more, the opportunity to participate in an international project will certainly result in the improvement of communication skills of the involved students especially in their language and presentation skills. Being able to learn about others and give better performance in the above mentioned areas of interest will help the participants to become more self-confident and at the same time more respectful and tolerant to other citizens of the European Union. For the participating teachers the exchange of ideas, learning about new teaching methods, using the produced materials will definitely result in their professional development with long term perspective.
