Project summary

European countries belong to the states with the highest consumption of resources world wide! In order to save resources instead of wasting them in the future,in this project students learn how sustainable consumption and upcycling can work and how they can organise their daily life more sustainably. Upcycling is a great way to spare resources. If used goods get“ reanimated“ and seemingly useless things get a new function, mounts of waste will be reduced on our planet. Each of us can make his/her contribution, no matter if it appears to be only a tiny one. Teachers and students of the 5-8 classes from Hungary, Slovenia and Germany want to meet this challenge. Our schools are going to move things together, are going to create new perspectives, are going to be creative across borders and spare resources at the same time. We are going to design and create new products from „trash“. We are going to sell them and donate the profit we will earn for environmental projects. Also, for our schools ourselves upcycled products for schoolyards and classrooms are to be created. Unfortunately, critical consumption is hardly an issue for a lot of adolescents. Debates about cheap products and inhumane conditions of production are known but the nonconsumption hasn’t been of interest for many of our students yet. By this project we will encourage new ways of thinking and on the basis of specific examples we will realise that you can also produce great things at a small level. All our students will get familiar and sensitised with the subject waste of energy and carful use of resources. Exhibited art objects, bazaars and workshops will help to create a perception of sustainability among the students, parents and teachers of all participating countries.
