Project summary

The present project is about the German-Polish cooperation in the field of Science and Technology. The three partners collectively plan and realize three technical innovations in the following fields: -Fire fighting with sound waves -Prosthetic technology for people with handicap -Robotics in geriatric nurse The three partners commonly contribute to the success of the planned project by contributing with their own expertise from which the other partners can benefit. On the other hand weak points can be balanced by the strenghts of the partners. The BBS Neustadt brings along a technical competence in the field of electical engineering and is therefore able to contribute electronic components for the planned innovative products. The Zespol Szkol Elektrycznych w Opolu have got well equipped laboratories and therefore they are able to deliver the needed constructional components. The students of the „Irena Sendler” Grundschule TAK in Opole are well trained in programming e.g. with Arduino, so that they can contribute the needed programming in order to get the technical innovations running. After the construction of the technical innovations the students will take part in technical competitions in shared teams and will consequently obtain direct feedback from a specialist jury. Furthermore the students will create a trilingual glossary containing technical terms in German, Polish and English, which they will subsequently make available to intersted third parties for further usage and completion. The described incentives can be realized on different difficulty levels and with varying technical processes. This way a heterogeneous target group is addressed. Thus, students from different age groups (14 to 20 years) and with various technical abilities can take part in the project. In addition, the project welcomes students with educational difficulties (dyslexia) and with a problematic social background. They will be integrated into the project by focusing on everybody's strenghts and thereby contributing to the success of the project. The students generate motivation and experience an increase in self-confidence. Every individual can make a valuable contribution to the positive outcome of the project and acquire motivation to aspire for a technical apprenticeship that enables him or her to deal with current problems of a modern society e.g. in geriatric nursery, for endangered people or for people with handicap.

Final report summary

The present project describes a German-Polish cooperation in the field of science and technology. The three chosen partners aimed at the joint realisation of the following three technical innovations: -Extinguishing with sound waves -Prosthetic technology for people with handicaps -Robotics in the care of the elderly To successfully achieve the goals, the three partners are an ideal constellation, as each partner brings its own competencies from which the other can benefit. After the technical implementation of these technical innovations, it was planned that the students would participate in competitions in the technical field in mixed teams, thus obtaining feedback from competent expert juries. In the course of the overall process, the project participants produced documentation of their work, which they then made available to third parties for further use and supplementation. Due to Corona, the topic "Extinguishing with Sound Waves" could not be worked on. The project work in the area of "prosthesis technology" was successful, where a device was built that can read biometric signals from the skin to later control the prosthesis. This device was demonstrated to the mayor of Opole during the project trip to Opole. Later, the device was attached to a wheelchair so that it could be controlled with the help of the prosthesis technology. Another success in the German-Polish cooperation is the development of a Polish pupil from the project group who constructed a device for the care of people with dementia and was allowed to demonstrate it in the nursing home in Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Opole. With this development, he took part in the Science Fair in Landau in the Palatinate and won 1st place in the competition. He was also accepted into a "Jugend forscht" competition due to his participation in an Erasmus+ project and achieved 1st place in the regional competition in Kaiserslautern. The projects described are to be realised at different levels of difficulty and with different technical procedures and therefore address a heterogeneous target group. Thus, pupils from different age groups (14-20 years) and with different technical abilities are addressed.
