BACKGROUND The maintenance and exploitation of the road infrastructures is decisive to maintain its viability and extend their shelf life. European transport infrastructure is a mean to strengthen EU’s social and territorial cohesion, with the potential to promote economic development and jobs’ creation directly and indirectly. The availability of a skilled workforce on roadwork according to safety requirements faces concrete needs: *Hazard prevention in roadwork. *Pedagogical innovation in line with roadwork’s requirements. *Acquisition of ICT skills. Consequently, VRoad aims at tackling specific needs for work-based training and hazard prevention in roadwork training through the development, testing and implementation of a training system based on Virtual Reality (VR). OBJECTIVES *To define a theoretical and practical learning frame to develop a training system to fulfill pedagogical and H&S goals *To tackle specific needs for work-based training and hazard prevention in roadwork training developing a training system based on VR *To propose an innovative educational approach to roadworks’ practical learning through VR focused on lane closure, guardrail and traffic signs reparation, and protocol in case of accident *To ensure the full exploitation and accompaniment for VET trainers and trainees in the use of the training system *To design a roadmap to establish the standards and necessary steps to facilitate the recognition of the training system developed in EQF terms, according to the European frame and EQAVET recommendations PARTICIPANTS Profiles targeted with the activities foreseen: VET institutions/centers, local public bodies relevant for VET, current students or apprentices, VET experts in roadworks, workers, companies, trainers, teachers, H&S entities, pedagogues, ICT experts and social agents. Direct participants: 370-500; Potential or indirect participants: +2,000,000 5 entities experts in VET and/or the development and application of ICT tools to training: -Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (Leader, ES) -GA Consultores (ES) - Comité de Concertation et de Coordination de L'Apprentissage du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (FR) - FORMEDIL Piemonte (IT) - Centro de formacao profissional da industria da construcao civil e obras publicas do sul (PT) ACTIVITIES *PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES It will be devoted to guarantee a proper implementation of activities and a financial monitoring (ISO and EQAVET quality criteria). *PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION. FIELD WORK This group of activities will cope with the development of the key contents: IO1. Set of learning outcomes on roadwork IO2. VRoad training system IO3. Guide for trainers: pedagogical use and technological exploitation of VRoad IO4. Experimentation and external validation: Pilot experience and validation *PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION. ENDORSEMENT It will have a double aim: to create the National Advisory Groups (NAG) and the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and to start up a standard process of recognition (IO5: Standard recognition of the Learning Outcomes). *PROJECT DISSEMINATION, VALORISATION AND SUSTAINABILITY It will put into motion concrete divulgation actions aimed at achieving the highest impact possible: multipliers events (Infodays, Final conference), international events and a complete set of activities to spread project results (social networks, press and targeted diffusion). METHODOLOGY The project is structured along 24 months planned in steps which include activities leaded by the partners. The working methodology will combine qualitative (focus groups) and quantitative (questionnaires, online survey) techniques, to get first-hand information regarding H&S on roadwork. RESULTS AND IMPACTED EXPECTED The project is expected to have impact in: *Target-groups: -Low-skilled workers, improving their H&S skills in roadwork. As a transnational project, workers’ knowledge will get a EU validity, boosting their European mobility. -VET providers, benefiting a modernization of their training contents, more adapted to companies demands. -VET trainees/trainers, having at their disposal a user-friendly resource to improve the teaching process under safety conditions. *Stakeholders - Relevant public educative organizations responsible for determining training schemes. - Building companies that dedicate resources for modernizing and adapting the activity to the new scenario of the construction sector. - Training providers, private or public, devoted to provide training on building activities or related sectors. - H&S public institutions and private companies. BENEFITS - Improvement of the construction VET providers’ activity to include an appealing training offer for the current and potential construction sector worker - Strengthening of the preventive culture of construction workers - Enhancement of workers’ qualification on management and use of ICT - Improvement of the sector image, offering a
BACKGROUND The VRoad project has been developed in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. The background for planning the project focused on the availability of a qualified workforce in accordance with safety requirements, needs: *Risk prevention on road works. *Pedagogical innovation. *Acquisition of technological skills. Consequently, VRoad has aimed to address the specific needs of work-based training and Health and Safety (H&S) in road works through the development, testing and implementation of a training system based on Virtual Reality (VR). OBJECTIVES *To define a theoretical and practical learning framework for a training system that meets pedagogical and health and safety objectives. *To address the specific needs of work-based training and H&S. *Propose an innovative educational approach to learning by doing on road works through VR, focusing on lane closure, repair of guardrails and traffic signs, and accident protocol. *Ensuring full exploitation and support to trainers and VET students in the use of the tool. *Design and establishment of standards and necessary steps to facilitate the recognition of the training system developed in terms of the European Qualification Framework (EQF). PARTICIPANTS Targeted profiles: VET institutions/centres, local public bodies relevant to VET, current students, VET experts in road works, workers, companies, trainers, teachers, health and safety bodies, experts in New Applied Technologies and social partners.
