CONTEXT/BACKGROUND TRIADE 2.0 tackles the problem: "The social inclusion of ageing adults with intellectual disabilities (AAWID) is not being fully achieved in European Union". AGEING The numbers of elderly population (aged 65 and above) will almost double, rising from 85 million in 2008 to 151 million in 2060 in the EU. Population ageing is one of the greatest social challenges facing EU. European Commission is forecasting a huge impact on a wide range of policy areas". DISABILITY The World Health Organization states: "National health provision schemes are often inadequate and do not recognize the special needs of adults with intellectual disabilities as they age. In addition, WHO, in its report "World report on disability (2011)" highlights the greater vulnerability to age-related conditions of people with disabilities. According to many authors, statistics and partnership knowledge, premature mortality among people with intellectual has decreased very significantly. The expectancy of life of adults with intellectual disabilities (AAWID) is reaching to adults with no disabilities. OBJECTIVES ACHIEVED: a) Improvement of the skills and knowledge of AAWID related to ageing. b) Improvement of the professional’s competences of educators of AAWID. c) Development of specific pedagogical resources for educators of AAWID. d) Development and validation of a training platform (MNAM) specific for AAWID (64 exercises). PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS Target groups addressed: Primary: Ageing adults with intellectual disabilities (AAWID). New segment target group in EU. Secondary: Educators (nurses, caregivers, occupational therapists, psychologists...) involved in specific services for disabled or elderly adults or in community-based services. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES - Development of a training toolkit for educators (IO1) of AAWID. - Development of an interactive training platform (MNAM) with 64 specific training exercises for AAWID; development of a validation methodology to transfer the competences in the daily life; and a guide to use the platform. - The implementation of two pilot tests, in each country, to validate the pedagogical tools: a) 20-hour course for educators (ageing and disability; and how to use the platform); b) a learning sessions for AAWID to improve their competences and validate the MNAM training platform. - Development of management tools: training plan, management plan, dissemination plan and quality strategy plan. - Carry out of dissemination activities: project website (https://www.ivass.gva.es/Triade2.html), newsletters, public events, brochure, Facebook page and four multiplier events. PROJECT METHODOLOGY Partners have been working in TRIADE 2.0 with private and public stakeholders to tackle the problem of ageing and intellectual disabilities. As a result, the partnership has developed a theoretical framework and a working METHODOLOGY based on “the quality of life model" and "individualized supports model". a) The Quality of Life (QoL) model has given an excellent framework for the following project METHODOLOGIES: - Distribution of the learning platform activities according to its 8 dimensions (prioritizing SOCIAL INCLUSION). - Evaluation methodology: QoL model offers a range of indicators to monitor and evaluate the social inclusion and training activities. b) The individualized supports model: - Development of the learning platform where educators use a teaching methodology to offer specific personal supports; - The difficulty of transfer the skills into their daily life made the project to develop specific pedagogical contents to guarantee the transfer of the acquired competences to their daily life activities. RESULTS INTANGIBLE RESULTS. - Improvement of social inclusion and quality of life of 98 ageing adults with intellectual disabilities (AAWID) involved in the training project activities. - Improvement of the competences of 117 educators of AAWID. - Enhancement of the participating organization know-how by developing the platform, contents and pedagogical resources for educators of AAWID. Improvements of the quality of the services offered by these organizations to AAWID. - Community impact. Through the project dissemination activities, relevant community-based and specific disabled/elderly services are using, implementing or have been benefited from the training materials, tools or methodologies developed by the project. - Integration of the pedagogical resources developed by the project in the participating organizations.
