With the intention of producing a methodological change, introducing ICT and new educational practices such as peer learning and PBL (project based learning) in our schools to ensure that our students acquire good skills and competences that prepare them for their future life, the idea of proposing to our students a real challenge arose . The students, working in international leading teams, will conduct a real-like project about eating habits among teenagers at a European level simulating a current international team that we could find in any company or research university center. They will have to corroborate or refute the hypothesis that nutrition affects learning process since there are studies that claim that an unhealthy diet may cause deficit of attention troubles and academic failure. Throughout this process and as a result of it they will have to convince their classmates of the need to improve their food habits, but above all they will try to reach the families which are the principal agents of the nutrition of adolescents. They will perform this ambitious project hand in hand with the teachers involved being the number of students 20-30 and of teachers 5-7 (included the coordinator) in each leading team representing the schools. However, the project intends to have an impact on the entire educational community (teachers, students, families) in an active way participating in certain activities and also on the local community through dissemination activities. The students from the leading team will be those who will participate in LTTA meetings, where real work environments will be simulated, as activities' titles indicate (Let's be teachers!, Let's be statitiscians!) and they will also be responsible for the dissemination to the rest of the educational community. It goes without saying that all the activities will pursue the objective of the students' project that will be to improve the diet of the teenagers through the families. We are 5 different schools in the project, with different backgrounds, from all around the Europe (Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Spain) in order to share innovative practices and experiences and create innovative materials. During the implementation of the project we will integrate the good practices and the new acquired methods into daily school activities, thus hoping to contribute to improve lifestyle of students and thus attention troubles in classrooms. The specific objectives of this project are: -To promote a successful partnership in order to provide a more attractive education while working on the topic of healthy breakfast (food in general) in the frame of each school curricula. -To develop students’ and teachers’ key competences and skills such as foreign languages skills, digital /ICT competences and project management skills while working on the topic. -To make students and their families conscious of the importance of diet to attend school and lifeday and improve their habits. -To promote students’ interest for heaving a healthy style. -To determinate teachers’ acquiring of innovative and modern pedagogical approaches thus contributing to improve students’ school and personal accomplishment -To improve students’ motivation for learning with the help of interesting and less conventional activities of the project. -To involve families in the the daylife of school. Some of the activities that we are going to do in order to achieve these objectives are: -Surveys about students’ diet and possible relationship with attention troubles in classroom; surveys about families’ knowledge of healthy diet -Recipe blog called Healthy breakfasts to go to school -Facebook page - Youtube chanel with healthy breakfast recipes and curiosities about food -Instagram account to disseminate healthy images and news -Teaching lesson plans -Semestral magazine for families and public libraries -Workshops for students, families and other schools of the city -Posters about healthy diet -Trimestral free healthy breakfast in school with informative leaflets As said before, one of the main objectives of the students' project is to make the students aware of the importance of a healthy diet, and especially the importance of having a healthy breakfast to be able to follow the classes in an appropriate way and take advantage of the school. Therefore, if one of the main objectives of the project is achieved, we will allow a whole generation of students to change their eating habits and transfer them to the new generation. In addition, working on this real project will enhance students' and teachers' ICT and foreign languages skill and their entrepreneurial abilities team of work and communication with their peers throughout Europe, which is the aim of our Erasmus +action. We also intend through the sharing of activities and outcomes of the project to bring a positive change and to be a real help to other schools in the national and international community.
To enhance the acquisition of Key competences of our students, in order to better prepare them for their future as adults, through the implementation of new methodologies and innovation in the use of digital technologies in the classroom, was the main objective of the project. We focused on improving the PBL methodology (project based learning) which most of the partner schools had already worked with, but this time it included a newness: A PROJECT BASED ON A REAL PROJECT WITH REAL OBJECTIVES AND CHALLENGES. The lead team of students of the 5 schools became an international working group with a common and real objective: to promote, and improve, the healthy eating habits of their classmates by focusing on breakfast. They were going to be, with the guidance and help of the teachers, those who investigated, designed a promotion plan and felt the protagonists of the activities carried out at school and outside. They simulated an international work group with multidisciplinary tasks that allowed them to improve their skills and abilities (create surveys, analyze them, devise promotional campaigns, design healthy eating workshops for other classmates or other schools, manage social networks ...). Groups of promoter students and teachers were created in each of the participating centers to lead the project, but local activities involved the entire educational community, including families, which was made possible thanks to the dissemination and training activities led by our promoter students. And we didn't fulfil that, we also tried to involve other local schools with our workshops and magazines. Local and transnational activities formed a continuum since they were rings of the same chain to achieve our objectives: for students, to improve breakfast habits in the educational community and for teachers, together with the obvious objective of students, also to innovate in methodological practice (PBL, ICT). Students played an important role in decision-making regarding activities and promotion, as we realized that this project was not only enhancing their acquisition of more academic key competences such as linguistics, mathematics, science, but also that of personal, social, business initiative and learning to learn ones. In other words, we were promoting the key competences that every person needs for their personal fulfillment and development and for their employability, social inclusion and active citizenship in their adult life, achieving, along the way, another priority of the project, which was social inclusion. In fact, in international meetings we "played" to be journalists, speakers, statesmen, teachers ... We created work environments such as those in which certain professions are developed and the students felt as such. To organize all local and transnational work, a Twinspace was created for the association, which was very useful for asynchronous work and document repository. Other platforms such as MEET, Google Drive, Padlet, ISSUU were used for online work. During the 30 months of the project, 5 physical and 1 virtual mobilities were carried out. The first was teacher training to acquire knowledge about the theme of our project (healthy breakfast and relationship with school performance); 4 were student mobility and the students of the driving teams participated in them. The last one was virtual, due to mobility restrictions caused by the pandemic, but it gave us the opportunity to take a leap in the use of digital technologies for synchronous online work. Students with financial difficulties participated in all of them. The project activities, led by the students, were very varied. Some examples: -Creation and analysis of initial surveys -3 magazines -Blog with healthy breakfast recipes -YouTube channel with healthy and cheap recipes (so that everyone could make them) -Healthy eating workshops -5 healthy breakfast campaigns for the whole school -Healthy breakfast Instagram account The teachers designed a pedagogical material to work with the PBL methodology in a real project and a compendium of workshops on healthy eating taking care of the ideas suggested by the students. This project has shown us that it is possible to learn and motivate students through new methodologies but above all by putting them as the protagonists of a project with real objectives. Teachers have been able to share a multitude of new practices among the participating schools and there is no doubt that many will remain in our centers for future projects. It goes without saying that with all the work to promote healthy breakfast we have managed to make at least one group of students and families in our schools aware of its importance.
