READY, STEADY, GO TO 2020 ! A project to learn how to live together, to cooperate, to surpass ourselves, develop relationships and be active ! A project that encourages the common values of sport and Europe. The development of sport in schools is an educational political concern. Sport in schools contributes to the respect of ethics, educational and humanist values. It plays an essential role among young people and their ability to access sports, and to learn how to live together in society. It protects students' health and physical integrity. Sport is an asset for equality of chances, and gives a sense of citizenship to young people. At the same time, the European Union's ability to challenge competitivity and growth particularly depends on its energetic entrepreneurial spirit. When practised at school, entrepreneurship reveals in children a thirst for learning and increases their motivation and their perseverance in education. Faced with these pedagogical and educational challenges, schools in six European cities, including two twin cities, decided to unite in the framework of an ERASMUS + strategic partnership. They are willing to work together on the theme of sport and Olympism by proposing an innovative project that makes use of entrepreneurship, thus contributing to the EUROPE 2020 strategy and successfully meeting the challenges of inclusion and dropping out while allowing their institutions to remain attractive. They wish to welcome and turn a disadvantaged public into a wealth , giving them a chance to live and grow together; making diversity and difference a source of enrichment and a learning resource for all. The last Olympic Winter Games, the World Cup 2018 football and other championships or cups from Europe and the World have an impact on young people. It is within that dynamic's framework that our teaching teams want to give an immediate impetus to the sport, and allow their students to become more actors than spectators, actors of their lives and their learning. Our project aims to promote sport among young people and wants to mobilize educational communities around the values of citizens and sports. It will also be a great opportunity to introduce young Europeans to the history of the Olympics and to follow the preparation of the games of the summer of 2020. As with the Paris candidacy to organise the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games, the French school commits to coordinating the project. The goal of our partnership is to promote the culture and practice of sport, to assert the educative dimension of sports at an age where children start to take part in sport, and to support the development of a European citizenship. Each year, each country will demonstrate a new sport to the other countries. A professional athlete of the chosen sport will be invited to be a patron of the school. In each school the sport will first be taught. Local sport clubs and olympic commitees will be approached to help with material, advice etc...The students will be the prime actors of this project. They will have to make a video tutorial to present and explain to their fellow European pupils the rules and the history of the chosen sport and to relay their passion. Each action will be a source of learning, and will allow pupils to gain common knowledge, abilities and behaviour. Reading and writing, counting, as well as maths, science, geography and history will aid the project. Other key skills (defined by the Parliament or the Council of Europe) such as foreign language skills and IT will be developed, evaluated and certified in the project. The pupils will be the main actors of this project. They will develop new skills, be more accomplished and be better equipped for success. The professional skills of teachers and school staff will be also reinforced, as they will use new methods and new tools to follow the “Rethink Education” strategy. The educational teams hope to share their best practices: all productions and educational resources will be made available free of charge. Each partner school will see its international openness reinforced and its European identity developed ; and their reputations will improve .
The development of sport in the context of sport at school is an educational policy issue. Sport at school helps to promote ethical, educational and humanistic values of sport. It plays a key role in young people's access to sport and gives meaning to "living together". It is fully involved in the health and the preservation of the physical integrity of students. It is a privileged asset for equal opportunities and for the citizen training of young people. Cooperation in innovation and the exchange of best practices: 2018 KA2 The health and preservation of the physical integrity of students. It is a privileged asset for equal opportunities and for the citizen training of young people. At the same time, the ability of the European Union (EU) to successfully meet the challenges of competitiveness and growth depends particularly on the dynamism of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship, practiced in a school setting, awakens young people's desire to learn, increases their motivation and encourages school perseverance. Faced with these pedagogical and educational challenges, schools in 6 European cities, including two twin cities, decided to unite as part of a strategic Erasmus partnership. We worked together for 30 months on the theme of sport and Olympism. 2,352 students and 159 teachers participated in the project. Several sports associations and clubs were involved in this partnership. In accordance with the plan for the application, the six themes related to sport were implemented. Activities in the last quarter, scheduled from March to June 2020, were disrupted by the health crisis. The meetings, which were postponed in Autumn 2020, in the hope of exiting the crisis, finally took place, via digital platforms. All the activities were carried out well. Each quarter a set of activities related to a project theme were developed; 1.The Olympic Games: common values between the OG and the EU. 2. Paralympic Games and sports for disabled. 3. Our national ball sports: our national identity. 4. Sport is good for your health! 5. The rule of the game and the role of referees. 6. Our regional sports: our local heritage. Before the health crisis, sports news, European championships and World Cup championships had an impact on young people. It is within the framework of this dynamic that our teaching teams were listed. They gave an immediate boost to sport, enabling students to become more actors than spectators, actors in their lives and their learning. Our project developed sports practice among young people and mobilized educational communities around the values of citizens and sports. It was also a great opportunity to introduce young Europeans to the history of Olympism and to follow the preparations for the 2020 Summer Games postponed until 2021. As part of the Paris 2024 bid to host the future Olympic and Paralympic Games, the French school of this partnership coordinated the project and obtained the GENERATION 2024 label, issued by the academic authorities. The coordinator regularly involved the partners in the Olympic and Paralympic Weeks organized in France by the Ministry of National Education. Each year, each country introduced the other partners to a new sport. A top athlete from the chosen sport was invited to sponsor the establishment. In each school, the discipline was taught first. Local sports associations and Olympic committees were solicited for human resources, equipment and advice. The students were the first actors of this project, they made video presentations and tutorials to explain to all their European comrades the rules of the game of these local or national sports. They presented their history and encouraged their fellow ambassadors to want to play the sport too. Each action was a source of learning and enabled students to acquire the knowledge, abilities and attitudes of the common foundation. Reading and writing, numeracy and basic skills in mathematics, science, geography and history served the project. Other key competences (defined by Parliament or the European Council) such as foreign language communication and digital competence have been developed and assessed by certification in the implementation of the project. The professional profile of the staff has been strengthened; teachers introduced new methods and used new tools to respond to the transition called the “Rethink Education Strategy." Each educational team shared their best practice. Each partner institution saw its International openness strengthen and its European identity developed; their branding evolved positively and the number of pupils at these establishments is on the rise.
