Project summary

The approach of the 20/20 strategy and the current unfavorable environment for the European Union and diversity have pushed us to develop an integrated, innovative approach in favor of social inclusion, diversity and European citizenship for professionals working with newcomers to develop more effective integration programs and therefor have an greater impact on new comers (NC). This approach is based on an active contribution of new comers in the development and shaping of these learning tools and their participation in an awareness campaign promoting European citizenship through inclusion and diversity. The involvement of the beneficiaries in the design and implementation of the training supports their critical sense and contributes to their empowerment and the exercise of a better lived European citizenship. In the current European context, one of the priorities for a prosperous, tolerant and inclusive society is to ensure that NC have the opportunity to learn, work and contribute in the Member States according to their skills and ambitions. The integration of this public is becoming more and more of a priority in order to lower social tensions and to cope with the rise of euroscepticism and xenophobic and populist political parties. Thus, the entire community must take into account the needs of NCs and recognize that third-country nationals are very likely to become long-term members of the host society. The effectiveness of the various integration programs is endangered by the lack of adequate training on the definitions of diversity and interculturality for the professionals who are in charge of these programs. Since the wave of new refugees in recent years, Europe has seen the birth of thousands of reception, orientation and training centers, with professionals who often come from different backgrounds and don't have previous experience with NCs and therefore lack the skills and tools to work effectively with this audience. Based on this observations the DICE project aims at: - creating an open, free and accessible training for professionels working with NCs, on diversity, inclusion, european citizenship and empowerment - equip professionals with open and innovative practices and methods, rooted in the digital age - Renew the considerations on NCs and especially vis-à-vis living together, intercultural dialogue of diversity, languages and Europe. (Through a diversity awareness campaign that aims to give voice to NCs through their direct involvement in creating the content of the training and through the creation of a series of videos that will be a collection of their stories and aim at raising awareness of public opinion towards inclusion and diversity) Direct target groups: - Professionals working in integration programs for NCs. - Adults following a training course to work in direct contact with NCs. Beneficiaries: - Foreign adults who experienced a mobility: new comers (NC) Objectives for partners: - Increase the skills and knowledge of NGOs in the fields of ICT and OER but also diversity. Objectives and needs for professionals working with NCs: - Increase the skills and knowledge of professionals who work in direct contact with NCs - Make professionals aware of European programs related to education and training, and the contribution of a European project context for NCs. - Open to exchanges of good practices in Europe - Identify the beneficiaries' social, civic and intercultural skills and value these achievements in the European project framework or in the exercise of European citizenship - Develop the creativity, openness and adaptability of trainers Transnational project: Each partner offers different know-how and expertise which allows a complementarity in terms of inputs (theoretical, methodological, practical) and needs in terms of project implementation, while taking into account the specifici characteristics of the involved territories. Objectives and needs for beneficiaries: - Promote career paths and the acquiring of skills and abilities related to intercultural, mobility and languages -Develop or reinforce the feeling of being a citizen of the European Union - Boost their empowerment by participating in a European project, but also by creating content of the platform and participating in the awareness campaign - Contribute to the understanding of the needs of adult NC learners in recognition of skills and citizenship.

Final report summary

Context In today's European context, one of the priorities for a prosperous, tolerant and inclusive society is to ensure that newcomers have the opportunity to learn, work and contribute in Member States according to their skills and ambitions. The integration of this public is becoming more and more of a priority in order to reduce social tensions and face the rise of Euroscepticism and xenophobic and populist political parties. Thus, the entire community must take their needs into account and recognize that third-country nationals are very likely to become long-term members of the host society. The effectiveness of the various integration programs is jeopardized by the lack of adequate training on the definitions of diversity and interculturality for the professionals in charge of these programs. Since the wave of new refugee arrivals in recent years, the state of emergency has seen the birth of thousands of reception, orientation and training centers where professionals, often coming from different educational backgrounds and sometimes without previous experience, lack the skills and tools necessary to work effectively with this public.
