Project summary

The project Stories in Motion” involves 4 partners from France, Italy, Estonia and Czech Republic. Storytelling (narration) as an educational tool is a powerful way to put people in motion, to support their proactivity and co-operation, to empower them and to help them to identify the learning acquired through their experiences. It can address communication/literacy, self-esteem, empowerment, employability, critical thinking and social responsibility. Using willingly and effectively the art of narration as a tool to get a change in people - what we call “transformational storytelling”. We have observed at different levels that there is a real need for people to clarify their life and professional paths and to get empowered in order to find their place in this changing world. We strongly believe that stories can help in this. This project aims at exchanging and disseminating approaches and methods based on educational and transformational storytelling for social workers, educators, trainers working on competences development and empowerment of low qualified adults or/and adults in transition period. The number of participants is: 20 for the transnational meetings and about 200 for the local activities. The objectives of "Stories in Motion" are: • Explore different methods / uses of story-telling that support people empowerment, employability and literacy; • Discuss ways to adapt those methods to different realities and situations and thus broaden our fields of actions; • Improve the quality and effectiveness of our training activities; • Promote transformative story-telling among social workers, educators, trainers. Activities: * 5 Transnational meetings (coordination + best practises exchange) * 3 Local workshops adapted version of an existing workshop inspired by best practises shown in a previous transnational meeting * One multiplier workshop * Two online chat with experts with for each chat 2 experts from 2 different countries; stimlate, deepen and open. * Creation of a resources platform with the project presentation and a pooling of resources on * Storytelling and as an educational and inclusion tool. * Dissemination activities * Reports and evaluations. Methodologies: non formal learning, experiential learning, coaching. Envisaged results: At the level of the organisations: to have stronger, more effective and a broader panel of methods using storytelling as transformational tool, in order to tackle a diversity of adult learner needs and in order to have higher impact on their lives. We expect recognition from our peers. Envisaged impact and long term benefit: At the level of the organisations : development of new partnerships; the capacity be able to act as reference organisation and multiplier organisation. At european level : higher interest for and synergies around story-telling in education ; the development of an unformal network around the topics. For the participants of the multipliers' workshop : the creation of follow-up initiatives to explore different aspects of this work. For the participants will develop their communication (writing, and oral), their self-esteem, develop their self-knowledge, help them to see the big picture of their lives and professional path, support them to stand on their feet and assert their position in the society, and therefore help them to take decision and move forward.
