Project summary

The project «  Improve your high school »is following the previous one entitled «  How to live with diversity in the European Union”. Through this project we wish to give the pupils the opportunity to change their environment, make decisions, lead tasks, build themselves a European Identity by being attached to values of solidarity and brotherhood. In this context the motivated pupils of CAP or BAC PRO classes organize actions of solidarity during the 2-years-project. These actions aim at unify in order to learn how to help each other, how to project into the future and be able to lead a joint action that makes sense. <and to lead this joint action he pupils have to think first about the elements to change and to improve in their schools and then to find very concrete solutions. Exhibitions, interventions in other classes, exchanges between classes and/or other European pupils will make these objectives come true. Allowing to many classes to work on various solidarity actions offers a space where dialogue, exchanges, ideas and opinions can take place. It’s no more and no less than the precondition of real democracy. To that end, each high school has a specific mission to develop both inside and outside the school. Thus, the French high school from metropolitan France develops solidarities between pupils ( with the Freinet method) and with the world of the handicap, the Romanian high school develops solidarity between pupils and teachers and the struggle against isolation ( young teenagers too soon left on their own because of their parents leaving the country). The German high school aims at helping pupils who are in a situation of early school leaving, the French Guyanese high school works on the integration of foreign pupils and their parents inside the school. Mobilities are considered to allow pupils to develop an awareness of European identity and to show them that they belong to a wide identity set that includes them but which they unfortunately know nothing about. The pupils taking part in these mobilities have the task to gain new methods of actions to undertake. These methods will constitute a collection of educational index cards that anyone can use. These pupils will propose an action to lead( open to all the volunteer pupils) on the solidarity they worked on during their mobilities. During the exchanges with the European partners our pupils will make a collection of testimonies coming from European pupils and also from those who benefit from the solidarity. The French high school from metropolitan France that is skilled in cinematographic arts will make a documentary film based on the various solidarities and the changes they bring. This film is realized in educational purposes. And at last the involvement of everyone is celebrated at the end of this 2-years-project by the Solidarity Day. A day during which all the actions that were led will be highlighted, a day that will show that this project has allowed to federate all the voluntary energies inside the schools, a day during which the associations reward the schools by offering them the “eco-school” label and a day during which everyone can watch the film and read the collection of testimonies.
