1812 is a bilateral school partnership between a French and Lithuanian school. The objectives are to discover these two countries through cultural heritage by focusing on the 19th century and the heritage left by Napoleon on European history. Indeed one of the reasons why the French and Lithuanian participants worked together was that Kaunas, the Lithuanian school town, is related to Napoleon because his army crossed the Neman river. Actually they have many signs of Napoleon from 1812 onwards such as his house in an old town which is part of architectural heritage, his hill by Neman which is natural heritage, many old paintings in museums, a small monument built by locals for dead French soldiers. As the French school is situated next to Paris, historical investigation was made in places and museums such as the Invalides, the Vendôme column, the Arc of Triumph and the castle of the Malmaison to cross cultural heritage. To trace back common history related to the French year 1812 also known as the French invasion of Russia, the Lithuanian school produced multilingual leaflets in English, French and Lithuanian about Napoleon's cultural heritage in France and Lithuania. For the French school the participants produced augmented reality from the places investigated in France and Lithuania to relive this part of their common history.
After the two contact persons of this bilateral partnership encountered on School Education Gateway and the eTwinning platform and with the intention on the behalf of Lithuanian teachers to job shadow English Foreign Language classes at Lycée Jules Verne by benefiting from an Erasmus+ Key Action 1, a French and Lithuanian high school enlarged their collaboration with an Erasmus+ school exchange in order to have more teachers and pupils collaborate in their schools. By exchanging on their local cultural heritage the participants discovered that their two nations had a period in common. Thus the objectives were to discover their two countries through cultural heritage by focusing on the 19th century and the heritage left by Napoleon in Europe. The outputs highlighted their mutual history by concentrating on the 1812 year and the Napoleonic conquests. The participants of the two schools produced multilingual leaflets in English, French and Lithuanian, augmented reality effects from the places investigated in France and Lithuania and mentioned in the leaflets to relive this part of their history and make the past back to our modern time.
