In Italy or in France, nowadays a lot of students in agricultural high schools are low performing. Some have personal or social troubles, some others are special needs students. Most of them are lacking motivation for studying and even do have doubts about their place at school and their future. Teaching in front of these learners is now a daily challenge for educational teams. In Italy the choice has been done to put special needs students among "normal" classes, which is not the choice that has been done in France. Our first goal is of pedagogical and social order and consists of allowing a maximum number of students to be spread and motivated in their trainings. To this end we shall use the expertise and skills of our transalpine partners in the way of welcoming and supporting pupils in great difficulty. The purpose will be to favor school inclusion by innovative educational methods such as the inverted and active pedagogy. The choice to mix normal and special needs student should bring everybody, frenchs and italians, to be valued and included in school. Peer to peer learning, will also be widely used to help students feel self confident and meet success for the final exams. Our second goal is linked to the first one and is intercultural discovery. Students welcomed in agricultural high schools are generally little attracted by international matters and often very centered on the local life. That means all students will learn from each other differences: language, way of life, culture. In a more general way will be approached the themes of the non-discrimination and the equality between all persons. Using NICT will also be a constant purpose to use tools of tomorrow: computers based documents creation and transfer on web sharing sites, digital films making, web-conferences. On a thematical perspective agriculture and environment will be our favorite subjects during the project. Differences between the oceanic french coast and Tuscany mediteranean area will be a reason to study and compare agriculture, climate, landscapes. Italians, today studying only plants growing will learn from french knowledges and skills in animal breeding and conversely. Only one french class( around 32 pupils) will participate as for italians there will be several classes involved including special needs students. The principal effect should benefit to students. This schools exchange aims to motivate students to get a positive energy in order to succeed at school and perform also in their personal life. The project also aims to improve inclusion of low performing learners in agricultural high schools. Concerning schools the aim is to cooperate in a long term projection, in order to extend the committed work and offer to the future students an opening to Europe during their training.
The "Terra" project started from the observation, in France or in Italy, that a lot of students have difficulties in agricultural high schools. Problems manifest themselves in a variety of ways, often through poor school performance, absenteeism or even ill-being. There may be real suffering due to factors either internal to the school (mockery, exclusion..) or external to the school( personal, social or disability difficulty). The aim of the project was to find ways to improve the daily lives of agricultural high school students in order to encourage them to be more fulfilled; this fulfilment is a determining factor in school success. The lines of work" chosen were: - promoting school inclusion, particularly for pupils with disabilities; sharing the experience of the Italian school, which offers all young people, including those with severe disabilities, the opportunity to attend "classical" secondary school. - use innovative teaching practices such as 'peer to peer learning' to empower students in their learning. --get students thinking about exclusion situations such as gender discrimination or school harassment to give them tools to protect themselves from these dangers. The second major objective of the project was intercultural discovery. First of all, make acquaintance with the differences and specificities of the partner country. Use this difference in lifestyle in a broader reflection to find the diversity as something enriching and essential to our development. Then enter into a more technical theme, and use agriculture and environment as a red thread. Finally, promote the use of ICTs as soon as possible through the creation and dissemination of digital work media, the use of the Internet particularly through sharing platforms, the production of digital videos by students. Unfortunately, the health context in 2020 clearly stopped all actions. The project did not succeed in its entirety and remained on the actions carried out during the first year of cooperation
