2018 is the « European year of cultural heritage ». Within this framework, the goal of the CHECK project is to show young students how very diverse , ageless or appealing this cultural heritage is and that it cannot be limited to the borders of a country. The « CHECK » project will help Arts in general and performance Arts in particular serve cultural heritage to promote it among students. Our project will rely on different kinds of cultural heritages which Toulouse, Calamonte and Turin share in relation with the performance arts and landmarks they have generated (Greco-Roman archelology, movies, music, opera, drama, puppetry, circus, street art…) and how they can be expressed in different ways. Each group, made of students from the three countries, will work on a specific heritage. It will be showcased through short plays, featuring objects or historical buildings relating to this heritage. Then these plays will be filmed, edited and included into videos made up of the play, as well as actual technical and historical facts about the elements on stage. These media will be available on the internet and will reach a large audience. In a first part of the project, we will make our own strategies and educational tools meet in order to raise awareness among the students about cultural heritage. Each meeting will also be an opportunity to immerse yourself in a different high school and in families which will promote cultural and linguistic exchanges in French and / or Spanish and / or Italian. A hundred students will move. In the second part of the project, the partnership with our museums, theaters or cultural associations will enable the pupils to learn more about joint topics as well as about the technical or artistic jobs available in these fields (such as actor, scriptwriter, archelologist, sound technician, lighting engineer…) so that girls as well as boys may increase their prospects of carreer opportunities, consider European positions and galvanize their relationships with professionals from the three countries. Cross-disciplinary work will be the key to all these initiatives and will enable the schools, not only the students taking part in the project, to involve all the staff by showing how important the cross-input of all the subjects is : litterature (ancient texts, history…), linguistics, economics (job opportunities, the film industry….), technical skills (lighting, shots…) or science (how to date objects, research…). This cross-disciplinary input has a major role in every educational innovation but also in all kinds of jobs across the board, including artistic ones. Furthermore, it will be approached by media and information educational skills, the work on language (oral and written skills) and the use of digital media.
The year 2018 was "the European Year of Cultural Heritage". In this context, the "CHECK" project had for main objective to show young people that this cultural heritage is very varied, that it crosses the ages, that it is not confined to the borders of the countries and that it can be interesting. . The "CHECK" project put the Arts in general and the Performing Arts in particular at the service of cultural heritage to promote it to young people. Our project was reinforced on different types of cultural heritage common to the cities of Toulouse, Calamonte and Turin in connection with the performing arts and the traces they generate (Greco-Roman archeology, films, music, opera, theater, puppets , circus, street arts…) but can be expressed in different ways. Each group, comprising students from the three countries, worked on a given heritage. This has been highlighted through small plays staged objects or monuments related to this heritage. These were then filmed and integrated into video montages comprising the play and real, technical and historical information on the elements staged. These media are distributed via the Internet to a very large audience. In the first part of the project, we crossed our own teaching strategies and tools to make young people aware of cultural heritage. Each of these meetings was also an opportunity for the students to immerse themselves in schools and in families, which made it possible to promote cultural and linguistic exchanges in French, English, Spanish and Italian. In a second part of the project, the contributions of our museums, theaters and cultural associations in the (cultural) sector enabled the students to enrich their knowledge on common themes as well as on artistic or technical jobs in these fields (actor, screenwriter , archaeologist, sound technician, lighting technician, etc.), to broaden their career guidance perspectives, to consider jobs at a European level and to boost relations with professionals from the three partner countries, both for girls and for boys. Interdisciplinary work was the key vector of all these actions and made it possible, beyond the target classes, to involve all the actors of the participating schools, by showing the importance of the cross contributions of the various school disciplines [literary (texts ancient, history…), linguistic, economic (jobs, cost of film…), technical (lighting, shooting…) or scientific (dating of objects, research…)]. A transversal dimension was also addressed through media and information education, work on language (oral and written) as well as the use of digital media.
