Project summary

Inner Pathways is a partnership between seven organisations from six European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Italy and UK) aiming to strengthen educators’ competences by developing a complex, innovative non-formal adult learning methodology. It addresses the cultural dimension, values, attitudes, and behavioural changes relevant to ecological sustainability. The project objectives are: 1: To build a strong international platform of 7 project partners with 21 educators, and a minimum of 35 associate partners 2: To develop educational tools: a 4 x 30 hours training module with theoretical background, a training curriculum with educational methodology and a series of digital tools in form of 15-20 podcasts being distributed via the project’s website and other platforms 3: To carry out an international study involving 30 people from the 6 partner countries, based phenomenological research on the relationship between their inner motivations, well-being and inner behavioural change leading towards outer sustainable lifestyle changes. Our main target group are facilitators and educators working in learning for sustainability, and a wider community of educators and trainers working in other fields of adult learning. Our special target group are organisers and leaders in rural ecological communities, additionally adult learners. The project team plans to meet 3 times during the 27 months. TNMs are dedicated to: setting up our work culture, start and structure online work on, mid-term evaluation and monitoring, checking quality assessment, preparing training activities, reporting, finances, long-term implication of our sustainability plan. With continuous online collaborative work and the help of the first pilot 6 local multiplier events, a Training manual (O1), curriculum (O2) and digital tool consisting of a series of 15-20 podcasts (O3) will be created. The curriculum will consist of 4 modules: 1.”Body and Planet” - terrain of the body and somatic experiences. 2. “Mindful living with the Earth” - terrain of psychological and spiritual experiences. 3. “Open communication, co-creating and the power of listening” - terrain of communication. 4. “Natural cycles and rites to connect with Nature” - terrain of culture. An extract in 6 languages (English, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, German, Czech) will be created and made available and freely downloadable from the projects’ website. An international study will be created and published online (O4), containing the results of an international research, conducted in 6 countries with 30 people during 9 months, on behavioural changes based on inner motivations leading to sustainable lifestyle changes. We plan to organise two 5-days Joint Staff Trainings (C1 in Czech republic and C2 in UK) for 21 colleagues. Once the educational methodology is developed, we plan to hold a 8-days blended mobility training event, a Train the Trainers event for 30 educators from the 6 countries. This event will be embedded in a 9-months research on behavioural changes towards sustainable lifestyle, conducted with the 30 participants, including online phases of interviews. Two multiplier events will be organised in each country, they will serve as part of the elaboration process (first 6 events), and finally as dissemination activities of our results (6 events in the last part of the project). In our project management we intend to use Sociocracy which is a system of governance and organisational structure. As facilitation tools during transnational meetings we will use The Way of Council, Open Space Technology, Sociocracy consent making. In our learning methodology we will use a holistic approach of the Head-Heart-Hand, and the Theory U, which is a change management tool. By the end of this project participating organisations will have developed and disseminated the intellectual outputs, which will increase their recognition on local, regional, national and European levels. Through this intensive cooperation partners will have exchanged, learnt and developed innovative educational tools. Trainers, educators and facilitators participating in the three trainings will have strengthen their professional competences. Community organizers became part of an international support network of colleagues and peers, acquired communication and learning methods that will make their work in their local communities more effective. The project results will strengthen the networks in the field of non-formal adult learning and teaching for sustainability on the regional, national and European levels. International collaboration will be strengthened amongst the partner organisations and their networks, to facilitate further cooperation, exchange and initiatives. The innovative approaches, course curriculum and intellectual outputs will be a valuable contribution to the European non-formal educational community on the field of learning for sustainability.

Inner Pathways was carried out in a partnership between seven organisations from six European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Italy and UK). We aimed to strengthen educators’ competences by developing a complex, innovative non-formal adult learning methodology in the field of ecological and social sustainability towards a regenerative culture and ways of living. We built an international platform with educational tools available at https://innerpathways.eu for educators, trainers, community leaders We developed educational tools: a Story Book of personal stories about inner shift to a sustainable lifestyle, a digital training module and a downloadable Trainer's guide with two additional educational tools (foretelling dice and modus mandala) and a series of 20 audio podcasts about regenerative ways of living. We carried out an international study involving 30 people from the 6 partner countries, based phenomenological research on the relationship between their inner motivations, well-being and inner behavioural change leading towards outer sustainable lifestyle changes, and the Study titled "You can only give what you have" is available on our website. Extracts in 6 languages (English, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, German, Czech) are available of the Trainer's guide and the Story Book. Our main target group are facilitators and educators working in learning for sustainability, and a wider community of educators and trainers working in other fields of adult learning. Our special target group are organisers and leaders in rural ecological communities, additionally adult learners. The project team planned to meet 2 times during the 27 months of the project at transnational project meetings in Hungary and in Italy. In 2019 we organised two 5-days Joint Staff Training courses in the Czech Republic for 21 colleagues. We held an online course called "Inner Pathways Learning Journey" to test and develop our digital curriculum, held online between April - June, 2020 with 30 participants from the project partner countries, partly educators and trainers, partly community organisers living in rural ecological communities.. In our project management we used Sociocracy which is a system of governance and organisational structure. As facilitation tools during transnational meetings we used The Way of Council, Sociocracy, and the Theory U and social presencing theatre, as well as The Work That Reconnects and nature-based learning methodologies. We disseminated the results during online and in person multiplier events, over our website, our FB page, our partners online platforms, and the podcasts on: Breaker, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, Spotify. Through this intensive cooperation partners exchanged, learnt and developed innovative, practical educational tools. Trainers, educators and facilitators participating in the three trainings strengthened their professional competences. Community organizers became part of an international support network of colleagues and peers, acquired communication and learning methods that will make their work in their local communities more effective. The project results reached some networks in the field of non-formal adult learning and teaching for sustainability on the regional, national and European levels. International collaboration strengthened amongst the partner organisations and we are planning further educational collaborations between the partnership.
