Project summary

The project “Following the Waves of Music around Europe” is a response to the needs and objectives defined by the principals, teachers and students of organizations from six countries:Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The departure point was an art form. MUSIC, that constitutes a universal language, which was regarded as a very special way to motivate, inform and form. The national and traditional music of each country will be regarded as people’s culturale heritage in an Europe of all. Each project partner brings to it their examples of the best practices. One of our final products of the project is to create and publish an e-book about the research, activities, events, methodology, evaluation and dissemination of it. The e-book will be written in English and translated into the native languages of the partner countries. However the other Internet tools will be important part of the project to communicate ,show our project from the school community to the territory around the same schools. The other one will be a DVD of the students playing pieces and presenting the performance of the final concert as symbol of cooperation and inclusion. These two products will be the glass of our main goals: - Formation through music as a transversal mean of learning and living; - Knowledge of the European heritage; - Exchange of multicultural experiences; - Exchange of good practices; - Shaping the attitudes of tolerance and openness; - Culture broadening; - Development of ICT skills; - Improvement of foreign languages. The achievement of these results depends greatly of the detailed strategies above announced: - Six International meetings - Italy, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Portugal and Spain; - School meetings; - Contacts with municipality and institutions; - Interviews, work in/out of the classroom - workshops, seminars, open days, participant observation, discussion, brainstorming, working by design, teamwork, analysis of activities, analysis of documents and traditional pieces of music; - Rehearsal for the shows/events; - Dissemination; - Budget control; - Management control; - Monitoring and evaluation/reformulation and whenever necessary. Permanent continuity of the varied activities and results of this project, after its closure, will grant security for new challenge as this one, and the promotion of new initiatives with an even higher degree of motivation, enriched by the acquired experience and the satisfaction, as well as very specifically the improvement of our students’ success and well-being. Final report summary

The project “Following the Waves of Music around Europe” has been a journey through countries , schools, people and cultures following the waves of the folk music of the six schools taking part in this project: Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain. A Project which has seen the necessity to be adapted to the reality with epidemic of Covid 19. But all the partners have gone on working together believing in the Project and the great effect of the music on the people and the students. So the last two mobilities in Greece and Italy have been virtual, but the results great. The central point of the Project was the art form MUSIC, that constitutes a universal language and a very special way to motivate, communicate beyond the differences, inform and form. In fact the national and traditional music of each country has been used as people’s culturale heritage in an Europe of all. Each project partner has brought to it their examples of the best practices, orginizing concerts in each country where the students presented pieces of their folk music , singing, dancing or playing instruments. But the most important moment was the common song : in each mobility all the students of the different countries sang or played together the folk song of the hosting country. This has been possible also during the virtual meetings, making videos. We have produced a DVD with the videos of all the common songs and a Song Book ,too. These two moments represent the journey through different music which can join people from different countries and strenghten the Europan sense of belonging. Moreover each mobility has been the glass of the main goal of the project and it has allowed a formation through music as a transversal means of learning and living. In each country teachers and students have been in contact with typical instruments, dance and music thanks to whorkshops and webseminars. Also new methodologies have enriched students and teachers, making treasure of what they learnt to be used in the school life. This means sharing and improving experiences and competences. In this Project has been also important the development of ICT skills to share and know the music tradition of each country and to make students work together in small projects with PPT, videos and other Apps. However it has been necessary especially during the last two virtual mobilities. Another important point of the Project has been the human experience of being hosted by the families of the country of the mobility. This has been a very strong experience which has allowed an exchange of multicultural experiences and the shaping of the attitudes of tolerance and openness. An openess not only for students but also for the families. And a great opportunity for students who could not afford this type of experience. The communication language has been English and of course the improvement of foreign languages has been great. All the works produced during the theree years of the Project have been collected in some e-books about experiences of the students during the mobilities, culture of the countries and typical instruments and methodology . A Song Book collects all the scores of the common songs played during the six mobilities and sometimes with the adaptations for students. Instead a DVD of the students playing pieces and presenting the performance of the final concert as symbol of cooperation and inclusion. It's included also a common video created during the pandemic period with the students playing and acting at distance fom their homes."Ode to Joy" by Beethoven ( Far but near with the music). However the other Internet tools have been important part of the project to communicate ,show our project from the school community to the territory around the same schools. All the results have been possible thanks to schools' collaboration and organization to overcome each difficuty and monitoring and evaluation/reformulation and whenever necessary , especially during the coordinator meetings. The territory, through contacts with municipality and institutions, has been involved in the project thaking part in the concerts but also Open days. Dissemination through local press or radio has allowed the knowledge of the Eurasmus project in the different schools and towns. Thanks to the socials, we’ll go on showing to the other schools and the territory our experience, trying to motivate this experience ant the importance of our EUROPEAN CULTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH MUSIC.
