Project summary

The project “ F.I.S.T – Fighting against Identies Stereotypes on stage” arises from the still present sexist and gender biased behaviours among young people. It focuses, therefore, on the need to make students overcome some typical stereotypes connected with gender identities and roles. It stresses the role education has in trying to help students stop these gender biased assumptions which can even lead to violent and sexist unconscious. behaviours . The main goal of the project will be to foster the awareness of the different gender identities with the purpose to stop students being prejudiced. This goal will be achieved by reinforcing the writing skills and the students’ creativity that will find its peak by performing what they have written . These aims match with the objectives set by the ET 2020.The project will see the participation of 3 countries: Italy (Applicant country) , Latvia Slovenia with three High Secondary Schools . These schools have already been involved in European projects and they are well equipped to provide the right milieu for the implementation of the project. In total the number of participants for the mobility activities will be 48 ( 39 students , 6 teachers and 3 external staff members ) but the number of people involved in the project activities at schools level will be much wider considering the in -between activities before the mobility activities and the disseminating actions. Each partner will be in charge of putting in practice the creative writing (both short stories and original scripts), and drama labs, with a final performance by each partner country. There will be 3 Transnational only staff meetings: the first welcoming one in Italy (the Applicant country) ; the second in Latvia ; the third and final one in Slovenia ) . The project will also imply three students’ mobility activities: the first one in Italy with the presentation of the research works, the second one in Slovenia with the presentation of the short stories to be transposed in scripts and the third and final one in Latvia where all the performances will be played. These meetings will be also occasions for the students to face other cultures and lifestyles with the purpose to internationalize their curriculum. Infact each performance will not be bounded to its own country but spread and enjoyed contemporarily by all the partner participants/mates. All these steps will be recorded on an online blog and on a Facebook page about the main topic of the project and on the dedicated project school website with reports, pictures and videos. Also all the final products (e.g. short stories, scripts, pictures of the performances, videos, pictures) will be made available on the dedicate project website linked with the school websites in order to let the public appreciate the work made by students and teachers and to check the chance of working in the same way about a possible new topic. Etwinning will be used to upload the final project in order to create a discussion forum. At the end of the project the students will have acquired higher writing skills, will be more aware of their role in the society which will imply a higher respect among genders. They will be expected to better cooperate with their peers and with other cultures. The teachers will have mainly experienced a new non formal teaching approach which will enrich their methodology , also thanks to the sharing with foreign teachers. These improved methodologies will have an impact on the whole systems of the school organization., to be subsequently used extra- curricular actvities. Amongst the possible achievements it is expected the transferability of the results and methodologies and cross-collaboration with other parties in order to multiply the experience and enable other students and teachers to benefit from the European projects. Each partner is aware of the responsibility for the optimum implementation of the activities and products included in the international project and the various stages of life of the project. Dissemination is the strategic activity of spreading the positive effects of working together during and after activities. The fundamental dissemination scheme will include different targets both local and international and the results will be disseminated not only within the network of partners schools, but will also be made available on the project's blog , on the Facebook page online and on the schools websites. In special national and international occasions such as March 8th or International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on the 25 November, readings of the short stories written by the students or the performances of the plays will be proposed to associations, local authorities and schools as a kick off start for different initiatives.

Final report summary

The project “ F.I.S.T – Fighting against Identies Stereotypes on stage” stems from the still present sexist and gender biased behaviours among young people. It focuses, therefore, on the need to make students overcome some typical stereotypes connected with gender identities and roles. It stresses the role education has in trying to help students stop these gender biased assumptions which can even lead to violent and sexist unconscious. behaviours . The main goal of the project was to foster the awareness of the different gender identities with the purpose to stop students being prejudiced. This goal was achieved by reinforcing the writing skills and the students’ creativity that would have found its peak by performing what the students had written . This latter goal was partially achieved due to Covd-19 pandemic which forced the partners to fit to other forms of acting, namely not on the stage during the mobilities, which were cancelled, but by shooting some videos of their acting . The project saw the participation of 3 countries: Italy (Applicant country) , Latvia Slovenia with three High Secondary Schools . These schools had already been involved in European-oriented projects and they were well equipped to provide the right milieu for the implementation of the project. In total the number of participants per country for the physical mobility activities were 30 ( 18 students , 12 teachers ) but the number of students and teachers involved in the project activities at schools level was wider considering the in -between activities ( e.g. the reserach phase) before the mobility activities and the disseminating actions. Each partner was in charge of putting in practice the creative writing phase (both short stories and original scripts), and drama labs, which were meant to put the performances on the stage. There was 1 physical Short-tem joint staff meeting , which was the first welcoming one in Italy (the Applicant country) ; the second Short-tem joint staff meeting was a virtual one and was hosted by Latvia ; the third and final Short-tem joint staff meeting was also a virtual one and was hosted by Slovenia. There were two physical Short -term exchamges of groups of students , one in Italy with the presentation of the research works , the second one was in Slovenia with the presentation and selection of the short stories to be adapted in scripts. During the third and final virtual Short-tem joint staff meeting in Slovenia the students were given the opportunity to talk about their performance videos, which they had already shared and watched. These meetings were also occasions for the students to face other cultures and lifestyles with the purpose to internationalize their curriculum. All the achievements, short stories, scripts, videos, pictures, reusable material, such as rubric and questionnaire, were upoloaded on a dedicated project website and on the dedicated project school websites. in order to let the public appreciate the work made by students and teachers. These improved methodologies will have an impact on the school organization., to be subsequently used in extra- curricular actvities. The project was a great challenge and pursued most of its goals, in captivating aboveall students that could be at first skeptical about it. The issue rising from topic proved to be even more current and spread than the students could ever expect and this made them eager to go on working on the project even when the project seemed to remain locked in stalemate with the Covid-19 lockdown. The students shared their certainty of wanting to deepen the topic even further and using their so far acquired knowledge to make other piers aware of the issue. The outcomes of the project are meant and supposed to be delivered and presented inside each school to parents, other students and school staff.
