Project summary

According to Eurostat data, in 2016, 4.219 million young people were unemployed in the EU28 and the youth unemployment rate was 18.6%. Studies show that individuals' soft skills have a fundamental importance in their subsequent employability. As a part of the soft skills include entrepreneurship competence, considered as a key competence for growth, employment and personal fulfillment. Entrepreneurship and enterprising behaviour are important objectives for education and lifelong learning policies in the EU. Taking into account this importance, the final report of the expert group from the EC (2009), entrepreneurship is included in the national curricula for vocational education in a majority of European countries. However programmes and activities included by these figures differ greatly in intensity and effectiveness. The VET sectors in Lithuania, Portugal, Latvia, Turkey have no national curricula for Entrepreneurship Competence development and greatly need this. The proposal for EC Council recommendations on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning(COM(2018)24 final) defines that in support of competence-oriented education, training and learning, there are three challenges identified: the use of a variety of learning approaches and contexts; support for teachers and other educational staff; and assessment and validation of competence development. The VESVET project combines a transnational consortium of organizations with highly professional expertise in areas related to these challenges. The main AIM of the project is to promote the development and validation of entrepreneurial competences among VET learners in practical situations, and foster entrepreneurship training competences in VET teachers/trainers/practice supervisors. PROJECT OBJECTIVES: - to prepare a methodology for the evaluation of Entrepreneurship Competence development for VET learners based on the LEVEL 5 approach which will also be accessible online. - to create an innovative game based training course to support VET trainers in the design of their own curricula with integrated entrepreneurship modules; - to create an interactive video scripts based Trainer/Supervisor Handbook that explains the rationale behind the training course targeted at entrepreneurship. Directly, the project addresses 160 VET students and 60 VET teachers and trainers who will participate in learning activities. Their involvement in the project will help develop entrepreneurship competences, either directly or indirectly, and develop their potential from lifelong learning perspective. During the project life the following results will be achieved including: - 3 intellectual outputs: IO1- Entrepreneurship Competence Development and Assessment Methodology: IO2 - An Interactive Assistance Tool - Trainer/Supervisor Handbook with embedded video scripts that explains the rationale behind the training course on entrepreneurship. IO3 - A Set of Gamified Material for the training course to support VET trainers to train in Entrepreneurship Competences. The course will contain a series of gamified exercises, guidance material, educational tools and games for the implementation of entrepreneurial skills into already existing training curricula. - 4 multiplier events - dissemination events in each VET partner's school to present the project products to the network of the stakeholders - teachers, trainers, practice managers, and facilitators, to present the training material and LEVEL5 reference system. - 4 transnational meetings. - 1 short-term joint staff training event, 3 days long, to train participants on the use of the project products and outcomes, targeted at teachers/trainers, supervisors. - Various dissemination activities will be carried out, including project presentations and references in each project partner organisation's website, 16 events attended to present project and preparation of the project brochure. All materials will be available in the languages of the partners in the project consortium: Lithuanian, German, Latvian, Turkish and Portuguese as well as English.
