Project summary

In the Project The cultural heritage six schools are taking part. The Polish school is the initiator and coordinator of the project. The project’s idea emerges from the needs of students, teachers and local community that groups work in. Great deal of students’ and parents’ interest lies in English language acquisition and also in acquiring knowledge about cultural aspects of Polish and European heritage. The aim of this educating endeavour is to facilitate cohesion and consensus in various fields starting from knowledge of different cultures to ways of how to improve students achievements in education. Our motivation to establish project, results from the teachers’ need to develop skills and to find innovative ways of building bridges between Poland and European countries. We would like to be open to social problems of modern world, as there is obvious influence of educational process of children onto their further job search as adults. In response to our points of interest and the objectives mentioned above, five other school partners joined our project: Italian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish. Cultural collaboration between schools aiming at developing social, linguistic and ICT competences brings an ongoing possibility to improve students` knowledge and abilities. Our motivation is to share experience and raise our quality of teaching and ability to solve modern educational problems of young Europeans such as enabling success for all the student community. Not only for those with the highest results, but opening the door for less and more gifted, to migrants and native citizens, to poor and rich, to students of different interests and talents in order to communicate and collaborate. This is the cue objective of our and our partners`. The goal is to build a positive relationship with a pupil and give him or her the chance to seek knowledge and express one’s views since the early ages to prevent escapism, lack of understanding and this way act against social isolation, in favour of social inclusion, in respect to early school leavingand disadvantage, expanding critical thinking, building self-esteem, building and maintaining motivation, finding one’s identity, establishing relationship between students, parents and local community. Early leaving school problem is the final outcome that has deeper causes, since the reason stands behind the student’s attitude to learning. This, in turn, results from student’s family and its status, background, learning difficulties and obstacles, health problems, peer group, community etc. The common factor is the cultural heritage that does not depend on financial status, gained achievements or good school results. Every school partner has a great deal of experience involving methods that enable the link between motivating and supporting students of all backgrounds, personalities, abilities and skills in order to achieve success. Since our six countries represent different cultures and traditions, we are to benefit from our partner’s knowledge and experience. Innovation of our project lies in the fact that we are dealing with modern and interesting teaching methods, they will encourage students to both learn and broaden the awareness of one`s identity, to build self-esteem and maintain motivation, The project will last 2 years (4 semesters) in which we will deal with various products’ creation including e- Twinning projects, films, e-books, online quizzes, leaflets, catalogues, albums, calendars, posters etc. will lead to entrepreneurship, initiative and the rise of ICT competences. What is more, a positive attitude to effective teamwork will prevail along with the awareness of professional development in the oldest age groups. In order to achieve the goals, participating countries will use group projects, e- Twinning projects, workshops, field trips, expert meetings, tutorial lessons as in case of e.g.folk dances, songs, games played in the past. Teachers will adapt and include innovative solutions and ideas used in Europe. They will create lesson scripts, programs, teaching aids and tools, project's documents. Learning about partners’ countries will, consequently, enrich mutually the teachers` work and share the best practices amongst all the partners. The topic of cultural heritage will be treated in the dimension of social and educational engagement. The educational value of this project depends on the creation and use of inner projects, linguistic experiments, workshops, observations, research, developing skills along with linguistic and ICT competences. Activities that will be taken up, will involve students, teachers and parents and that will, in turn, give a positive impact on the environment of the wide local communities, as such, both within the very project`s time interval and in the future.
