The project ”Inclusion of minorities – a project in values” has its roots in human rights, with a focus on the inclusion of minority groups. The subject is important as participating countries’, as well as many other countries’, minority groups have been increasing in recent years. We can already see that the importance for society and school to include these groups, and provide future prospects, keeps growing and it is challenging schools. Finding approaches and methods to cooperate, as well as collegial learning around these questions, is becoming increasingly important. Participating in this project are schools from Sweden, Bulgaria, Estonia, Portugal and Romania. Together, we will be around 200 participating adults (teachers and other staff). Around 2000 students will be involved. The project length is two years. An international cooperation will contribute towards this issue becoming actualized in our EU countries. The immediate impact of making these problems tangible and something that we can cooperate in, is the provision of tools, knowledge and methods to develop our teaching. This will allow us to counteract exclusion, prejudices and oppression in our schools. objective is also to develop knowledge about our own values Our long-term goal is to strengthen minority groups in their schools and society, as well as increasing awareness for the issues at hand and increasing our tolerance for both current and future students. We also hope the students will see education as one of the driving forces for a meaningful life full of learning and work. To attain the knowledge and tools that we need, we will hold workshops, invite lecturers, engage students in various tasks within the topic, have seminaries, create discussion groups with clear topics based on questions, do tasks around values and engage expert help from others in society, e.g. the Raul Wallenberg Academy. Activities will be done locally in each respective country, as well as during short-term joint staff training events. Each participating country will host one of these conferences. We will continually document, evaluate and reflect on the issue in meetings for the duration of the project. Usage of the digital tools and social medias such as Skype, blogs and Instagram will be used.
