Project summary

The project is about preventing child sexual abuse which can happen anywhere, anytime all over the world. It is not just a national issue but also a humanitarian responsibility to unite against child abuse to be able to produce effective results. SmartSteps project will contribute to solution to the problem of child sexual abuse. In terms of vocational education program, counselors who are working at Research and Guidance Centers, Public Education Centers and schools go through a Training of Trainers (ToT) program in Turkey(Antalya) that will provide them a comprehensive knowledge and effective methodologies within European standards on various aspects of prevention for child sexual abuse. ToT will also improve the pedagogical proficiency of the counselors in communicating with children and diagnose the victimized child or the recognize risks threatening the children. In the project, there will also be a local training program in Rhodos,Antalya and Sofia which will be held by the counselors who attend training program in Turkey. The counselors who attend the training programs both locally and internationally are also expected to reach school teachers and parents through separately designed informative sessions. With the transmission of information, parents and teachers are expected to develop awareness about child sexual abuse, taking necessary measures in their environment, being able to recognize the signs and probable risks and starting the legal procedure. The partnership includes three Regional Local authorities on education from Antalya(TURKEY), Rhodos(GREECE), and Sofia(BULGARIA). partners in the project have a key role in implementation and production of the intellectual output. The roles of each partner are defined in detail and a clear task sharing has been accomplished among the partners. In order to reach the stated aims, a project management and implementation team is established at every partner institution. These teams have important responsibilities such as conducting preparation duties, evaluating the quality of activities during the transnational project meetings and so on. For the intellectual output, multiplier events are also planned. So as to manage the implementation of the project flawlessly, a contract among partners is planned to be signed before starting the project activities. Four transnational project meetings are planned. One of them is at the very beginning of the project and this meeting is important for reviewing the form, signing the contract and making all responsibilities clear. Apart from that, the project meeting is planned at the end of the project for the aim of analyzing and reporting the project results and outcomes, and more importantly, working on the final documentation. This project has local, national and international impacts and a dissemination plan is presented for dissemination of the impacts. There are also potential long-term benefits thanks to the intellectual output. After the project, its impacts do not end as the course content for counselors will be available for relevant institutions. Development of these contents will fill an important gap, as there is not a specific curricula designed for preventing child sexual abuse. Development of these contents will have enormous impact on the quality of education/health and well-being in our respective partners. The target groups (Counselors) and beneficiaries (teachers, families, children) will benefit in terms of high-level basic and transversal competences in a lifelong learning perspective. Also cultural understanding and transnational cooperation will be brought about. We anticipate that by means of this project will establish very good working relationships between the institutions engaged in the activities and that this partnership will continue beyond the period of the project implementation as well as all the invented vocational training tool and practice book.
