From 2015 onward Europe was undergoing the so-called „migration crisis”; more and more people came to the EU countries searching for a better future, and approx. 12% were young people between 15 -24 years old. Youth work in all EU countries, therefore, had to respond to opportunities and challenges raised by this increasing number of young migrants and refugees in the EU. The better-prepared youth workers would be and now are ideally, the more visible results in adaptation, developing skills, creating positive images, and common understanding of migrants in the future took place respectively will take place. Among the main challenges for youth work since then one can mention (according to 2nd European Youth work Declaration): supporting the inclusion of young people, building citizenship; the provision of spaces for debate, discussion and engagement; helping young people to develop a range of intercultural skills and competences, fostering understanding and respect. This is what the project aimed to achieve and in our sense accomplished. In order to fulfill this role, there was a need to prepare youth organizations and youth workers for the implementation of high-quality multidimensional, complex programs for migrant and non-migrant youth. The MYgrant METAMORPHOSIS (MgM) project ongoingly presents a comprehensive approach to the professionalisation and quality youth work for the social integration of migrant youths. The main goal was and is to create for youth organizations conditions for the delivery of high-quality youth work, by equipping them with a comprehensive programme, supporting youth workers in their professional development and work, shaping migrants’ basic soft skills, taking initiative, and extracting their potential as a driver for education and integration. Of course like all other ERASMUS+ projects running at the same time, also this project was affected by the Corona/Covid-19 pandemic circa halfway through the timeline. Nevertheless, the following results were achieved for the above-mentioned goal/s: - developed and tested set of methodologies and tools to support youth workers, called MgM Programme; - 12 youth workers from the partner organisations improved their skills in working with migrant youths and were prepared for the role of ambassadors and trainers to other youth workers; - a space for artistic expression of youths created in all partner organisations through organising multimedia & art workshops for 96 young people; - a new comprehensive and multidimensional offer for youths, presented, explained and offered for free use to youth organisations and youth workers through awareness-raising events and for wider access through product platforms/internet. At least 60.000 indirect recipients could be reached; - raised awareness among the wide public, stakeholders, policymakers on the need for the integration of young migrants into society. The MgM Programme offers the following tools and activities: - MYgrant mediART - Multimedia and Art for Social Inclusion. A Handbook for Youth Workers.
