Project summary

Context/background of the project Cultural heritage represents the field that help people identify their origins, history, providing details on the evolution of social inclusion and, the most important, shapes one’s identity. Unfortunatelly, nowadays this domain is neglected, especially in some EU countries and communities, lacking institutions, NGOs and trained people that could be interested in promoting its dimensions. Therefore acknowledging, preserving and promoting cultural heritage became a must, above all the development of some useful, interesting, modern educational tools and trainings in order to raise young people’s interest in exploring and learning more about it. We thought that Dobrogea, the South-East region of Romania and especially, Constanta, our city, has a real need to initiate a „Cultural Heritage Revival Movement” because both are multicultural environments where live all together different communities: Romanian, Bulgarian, Turkish, Tatar, Roma, Russian-Lipovan, Ukrainian, Greek and German. Project name We design „mAPPmy Europe” as a complex project, that will be developed over 3 years and implemented by 10 partners from: Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Spain. Aim/objectives of the project: The aim of the project is to develop interesting tools for youngsters in order to facilitate and promote a modern access to the cultural heritage education, stimulating thus their interest, with the focus on the development of: trainings, a smartphone app for youth tourism that will offer different attractive routes for young people, a website that will provide details on the project, an online shop that will sell youth-friendly souvenirs, promotiong the European Cultural Heritage and the work of young artists, an online, nonformal Cultural Heritage Education Manual for trainers and teachers, mural paintings that depict regional cultural heritage/traditions. Number and profile of participants Thus, the project aims not only to create youth friendly tools using modern tehnology but also to involve various institutions, organisations, stakeholders, artists, youth workers, young people, experts from IT, arhitects, teachers from different fields that have a connexion with Cultural Heritage (history, art etc.) but also have a great opportunity for dissemination among their youngsters . The project fosters an active partnership between experts, teachers, youth workers, disadvantaged and young (aged 13-19), creative change-makers that are interested in youth tourism innovation/promotion. We chose them because they will play an active role in creating the itineraries by offering their perspective on the most attractive routes that could stimulate the excitement among young people. Their participation will provide not only a great intercultural experience but also the development of some soft skills, improving the language and digital abilities at the same time having the opportunity to explore new domains such: volunteering and nonformal education, cultural heritage, art, entrepreneurship. Results, impact, the potential long-term benefits: Our expected results are: increasing the visibility as well as interest for the European and Local Cultural Heritage by developing and using modern youth friendly tools (the development of a smartphone APP by and for youth), promoting social inclusion and the benefits of the intercultural youth exchanges/cooperation, creating a Cultural Heritage Manual for teachers, experts, trainers, youth workers and a network that will encourage the sharing of good practices/dissemination in their communities, stimulating the creativity, artistic expression (the creation of local mural paintings in each partner region) and entrepreneurship.
