Wether in the intercultural exchanges' pedagogy or in multilingual language learning situations in national contexts, language animation has become an indispensable method. Language animation supports natural communication strategies and helps to dispel inhibitions while also stimulating curiosity for (a) foreign language(s) and culture(s). Multipliers learn these methods best in a well-grounded basic training or by practicing and training over several youth exchanges where they integrate an experienced training team. Unfortunately, the opportunity to acquire these skills in this way is only accessible to very few people. Many motivated trainees still try to approach the necessary background knowledge of this method through handbooks. In our experience, even with an excellent description of the method, it is barely possible to understand the flow of the methods this way. With this strategic partnership we will film the most important language animation methods in small videos in Greek, Spanish, and Portuguese, showing them as they are used in concrete situations encountered in youth exchanges. Theoretical content will also be recorded. The videos and a description of each method will be published on a website, in order to give trainees the opportunity to see these methods "in action". We will create around 50 videos and a website showing language animation in languages in which it is barely known until now or only very seldom offered in training seminars. This way, we will manage to spread the method further in a qualitative manner.
The method of language animation has become indispensable in the field of intercultural exchange pedagogy as well as in plurilingual language learning situations in national contexts. Language animation supports a natural communication strategy, it helps to reduce inhibitions and to support curiosity about foreign language(s) and culture(s). Multipliers learn these methods best through a solid basic training or through learning over several exchanges in an experienced team of trainers. Unfortunately, the possibility of acquiring competence in this way is only available to very few people. Many motivated professionals therefore try to approach the methodology through manuals with the necessary background knowledge. From our experience, however, it is hardly possible to understand the flow of the methods well even from a very good method description. In this learning partnership, we recorded the most important fifteen methods of language animation in short videos in the languages Greek, Spanish and Portuguese in concrete international exchange situations. In addition, three videos were made per language on the theoretical basis of language animation. The videos and a description of each method as a PDF were published on the website www.languageanimation.org to give professionals the opportunity to see the methods "in action". A total of 54 videos, 45 method descriptions as PDFs and the extension of the website for language animation in Greek, Portuguese and Spanish were produced. In the context of these language areas, very few training seminars for language animation are offered at the moment. With our proposal, we will be able to disseminate the method there with a high level of quality.
