By completing these language stays, which should guarantee a long-term benefit, we wanted to achieve the following results: The language skills in our foreign language teaching were to be improved, and everyday language in French and Italian were to be refreshed. In addition, extra-linguistic results were to be achieved. For example, new contacts could be made in order to promote international cooperation, newly acquired communication possibilities were to be tried out and new teaching materials were exchanged. Also, a stimulation of motivation was one of our goals by trying out and pass on newly learned teaching methods and teaching styles of the respective foreign destinations. In addition, an intensified and international European partner network (partner schools) should be established in order to multiply the acquired skills not only locally but also nationally and internationally.
The tourism schools at Wilder Kaiser align their educational offer with the requirements of the professional world of tourism. Their main pillars and training focuses are foreign languages and international tourism. Through various practical internships abroad, participation in international competitions and the completion of language certificates, our school meets these objectives. Therefore, the project includes several dimensions. Language skills are to be enhanced and, in addition, intercultural growth should be achieved through stays abroad in order to foster European thinking. Furthermore, it is important to adapt or innovate student-centered teaching methods and competences (such as interactive, communicative, creative and autonomous approaches). In order to achieve this, we have carried out this project based on the fact that the language skills of the foreign language teachers can be refreshed and perfected through stays abroad as well as visits to language schools. Finally, also new culturally influenced teaching methods and teaching styles were tried out in the teachers' own teaching.
