This project aimed to place foreign languages in the focus of regional and national educational development in order to promote economic success and socio-cultural cohesion in the regional, national and European educational area, as well as to enable internationalisation and European cooperation. A set of mobility activities and accompanying measures should promote enjoyment and competence in communication and excellence in foreign language teaching at all levels of school and school administration. A national consortium of 109 schools, led by the Styrian Directorate of Education, thereby intended to improve the environment for language learning, raise language awareness, increase foreign language competences and integrate Erasmus as a tool in school development.A particular focus was on third language learning, with a focus on French alongside the Alpe Adria neighbouring languages. Like each of our consortium projects, this one also had the additional aim of increasing the efficient use of digital tools in education, strengthening European awareness and values as well as European cooperation. All objectives are summarised in our Twinspace: https://twinspace.etwinning.net/91506/pages/page/683021
Europe is a peace project. Communication and language are the key. Innovative methods in teaching/learning languages are important measures towards the European education area. We have been focusing on quality development through internationalisation for years. Our goal is international cooperation at all levels as a normality for schools. We see a need to improve the framework conditions for internationalisation and the use of Erasmus. We are a national consortium because we want to be effective on a broad level. Working in the consortium helps us to learn from and with each other. We draw on the EU multilinguism policy, the Austrian CLIL guideline, BHS curricula (work placements abroad), demands from the business community. We refer to school quality developments such as bilingual schools, International Business Baccalaureate Diploma, the promotion of quality labels such as Label France Education, third language acquisition as Europe's asset. We respond to socio-political challenges such as migration and inherited education.
