Objectives

The students who voluntarily applied for the project were supposed to improve their vocational skills in internships tailored to our school's focus. Furthermore, we hoped to enable them to broaden not only their social skills, but also their language proficiency as English is one of the two official languages in Malta. Through honing these skills we had intended on increasing their employability. On top of that, this project would have enabled them to overcome barriers and to foster their willingness to interact and work with fellow Europeans. Working abroad would also have supplied them with first-hand insights into business organisations and familiarized them with an international work environment.

Background

We have attempted to launch our project twice (August 2021 and February 2022) but due to the pandemic situation it was not possible in either case. Our first attempt failed since our mobility partner 'Hermes Corporation Ltd' was not able to organise internships as a result of tight restrictions during the summer of 2021. In February 2022 our school followed advice given from the OeAD and decided against sending students to Malta in due to the impending Omicron wave.
