As an adult education centre in a rural area, the Retzhof, together with the consortium partners, saw the need to deal with civic education, democracy and awareness-raising as well as remembrance work in the Southern Styria region in order to enable the people and regional organizations or initiatives in access and participation to promote democracy and awareness in the region.
The Southern Styria region is much more than just a region of wine and cuisine at the highest level. Above all, it is also a region where you can learn a lot from the history. The Erasmus+ project "Awareness Region South Styria" was based on the model of the already existing "Awareness Region Mauthausen/Gusen/St. Georgen" in Upper Austria. The Bildungshaus Retzhof (as the responsible coordinator) worked on this idea together with regional partners.
