The UNESCO list of intangible culture heritage depicts the importance of preserving and spreading traditions, old handicrafts and different forms of culture of all parts of the world. Many cultural forms mentioned on the list are currently endangered by global as well as local developments and thus need effective protection and conservation measures. Our project is going to contribute to all those requirements to a special extent. Young people of all the participating countries will discover intangible cultural heritage, try it out and produce films for other youth. Thus not only special educational and explanatory films are made, but at the same time short instruction and an overview of school or individual work on the respective topic are presented. Students are going to deal with the medium film and in the course of time they will organize their own film festival in Berlin. Doing so they not only try out different traditions and cultural heritage, but will also improve their competence in the medium film. With the help of instruction they will work on evaluation of such projects and report on the progress. The festival will be advertised by posters which are designed by the students themselves. Furthermore, the best film in different categories as well as the best actors and directors will be selected by a jury consisting of parents, freelance artists, students and sponsors. In addition awards will be introduced. According to genuine film festivals there will be a trophy made by students. The project will take over the experience of previous Ersamus- projects and link them to the new goals, which analog and digital means are used for. Students will be provided with haptic experience by experimenting with intangible cultural assets and they will contribute to their preservation and spread. By means of long- term stays the students not only enhance their education and everyday life, but also reflect upon their own culture, own values, own educational system and view it in a new light. They thus increase their research- and study- competence regarding further, possibly international, education.
The UNESCO list of intangible culture heritage depicts the importance of preserving and spreading traditions, old handicrafts and different forms of culture of all parts of the world. Many cultural forms mentioned in the list are currently endangered by global as well as local developments and thus need effective protection and conservation measures. This project has contributed to all those requirements in a very special way. The young people of all participating countries have discovered intangible cultural heritage, tried it out and produced films on it for other youth. Thus not only special educational and explanatory films were made, but at the same time also short instruction and an overview of school- or individual work on the respective topic were given. Students looked into the medium film and originally planned to organise their own film festival in Berlin. Unfortunately Corona intervened with the result that the plan of a “Kulturale in Berlin” could not be realized! As an alternative some adolescents were enabled to develop a catalogue of criteria for evaluating films from the project under the guidance of a professional and together with a teacher in June 2022. These students, together with their teachers, previewed all films of the workshop meetings and made a preselection. The “Kulturale” was postponed to spring 2023 and should be carried out by all partners within the scope of their accreditation. During these three years our young people have not only tried out different traditions and cultural heritage, but also expanded their competence with the medium of film. Under instruction they have also worked on evaluation of such a project and reported on the progress. The festival in spring 2023 will be advertised by posters designed by the students. Furthermore, the best film of different categories as well as the best actors and directors will be selected by a jury consisting of parents, freelance artists, students and sponsors. Just like at genuine film festivals there will be a trophy made by students. In an outstanding way the project has taken up the experiences from previous Erasmus projects and has linked them with the new goals. Analog and digital means were each used in a way that was relevant to the respective goal. The students were provided with haptic experience by experimenting with intangible cultural assets and they then contributed to their preservation and spread with the help of digital means. Through long-term stays the students not only enhanced their education and everyday life, but they also consciously reflected upon their own culture, own values, own educational system and viewed it in a new light. They thus increased their research and study skills regarding further, possibly international, education. Subsequently, it should be mentioned that due to the shutdown, caused by the global Corona pandemic, the students worked under particularly difficult conditions. They have proved that it is possible to do focused work even in this situation. In the end we were able to carry out all workshop meetings except the closing meeting in Berlin (Kulturale), even if in a short time frame last year. This extremely intensive last year was felt as something very special by the students who did an immense amount of project work besides school.
