The Youth Exchange took place from 18.08.2019 - 01.09.2019 at the Mühl-fun-viertel in Klaffer/Hochficht, which is situated in the northern province of Upper Austria. The age of the 49 participants was between 13 to 19 and the age of the 7 team leaders and the 2 trainers was 21+ The APV was organized for the representatives of partnering NGOs to come together and to discuss preparation for the project. The topics were: possible problems and how to overcome them, international and intercultural collaboration, communication between partners, activities and implementation steps, risk management. Our main-concern was the revelation and the work on stereotypes and of prejudices regarding gender identities and sexual orientations for to find out barriers on the way towards full equal opportunities for men, women and trans*gender-people. There is still the gender pay-gap existing and women are still suffering a lot of discriminations and violence. Within this project we wanted to raise the awareness especially of the young people for to achieve a real equality in society and a respect for everyone, independent of gender and sexual orientation. Alternating, we want to put light on the very often neglected phenomenon of discrimination of men too and on prejudices concerning men. For example, when men are working with children, on the one hand it is socially desired, but on the other hand, men very often are facing a general suspicion of being paedophile. Feminism is a topic for both men and women. Actually, it is for humans in general, for example in its historical and currant role during the fight for Human Rights. So, it became an important part of our common trans-cultural work. We had a look on the different forms of feminism and on history, especially on the role of feminism in the development of human rights. Our method of working on these topics was based on the concept of aesthetic research. That made it necessary, that the participants were using means of arts: theatre, performance- and action art, video, photography, poetry, dance and music have been used for to work on the topics and for to present the outcomes. So, the young participants got both an idea of systematic scientific thinking and working and a feeling for arts and culture. Last, but not least, we wanted to bring together young people from different European regions for to build networks to exchange ideas and cultural outcomes for a better understanding. So the trainers had planned many different kinds of workshops and practical activities besides teaching and presenting theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, the trainers made sure that the activities have been carried out and the project has had a certain impact in the life of the participants. For many of them it was a whole new situation that they were not used to, during the project the language used was English and not their mother tongues and this increased the difficulty. Plus the cohabitation of two weeks with people who didn't know each other before, so even accepting to share their spaces with others.
