Objectives

By organising work placements, we have noticed that our students develop the intended competences in the field. During this foreign work placement, the students could get a taste of the international character of the business world and were prepared for it. The foreign work placement also made some pupils enthusiastic about international studies or an international career. The project ensured that further internationalisation will be pursued within the school. Moreover, for the participating students the foreign internship was an added value in their personal development. For a fortnight, the students had to travel in a foreign environment and also in a foreign language. This gave them the opportunity to improve their English language skills. More than once, their flexibility and self-reliance were called upon during this period.

Background

Internationalisation is important to our school. By organising an internship abroad, we wanted to introduce students to the international nature of the business world. This project was a unique opportunity for some pupils to experience another culture. Because of their home situation, not all young people at our school have the same opportunity to take these steps privately. Therefore, our selection procedure does not focus solely on school performance. As a school, we want to offer all students the opportunity to participate in this project. The traineeship abroad can be a springboard to prepare students for international studies or an international career.
