Objectives

Nowadays, more than ever, Europe is facing a real challenge triggered by the migration situation in and out its borders. Medias talk about ‘crisis’, far right wing parties are gaining ground and social networks are a new door to any kind of propaganda. In such a context, citizens are inundated by (dis)information. How to develop critical thinking? How to get a better understanding of migration? How to fight against discrimination towards migrants and refugees? "MnM: Media and Migration" was imagined by a group of volunteers form JAVVA who had already taken part in a youth exchange. They contacted some partner associations within our network, Alliance, and invited other yougtsres to join the project. The group chose to collaborate with countries where themigration situation is really diffrenet from one another in order to have diverse and rich exchanges , sharings as well as diverse sources of learning. This project will enable the encounter of youngsters from Belgium, Serbia, Greece and Finland so that they can question themselves about 'media and migration', or how do media treat teh ionformation on migration. The participants are youngsters willing to learn and share about migration as well as question the role of the media in everyone’s perception of the topic. There is one refugee in each so that they cabn share their experience and add some values to the exchange and also in order to think with them, and not for them. Active participation in group sharing, media/video workshops, institution encounters, and volunteering with migrants will be the key to become an ambassador of tolerance and solidarity towards migrants in everyone’s local environment. Objectives of the project: - Give the keys to better understand the migration situation in Europe and at its borders as well as the situation of migrants in Europe. (realities, causes, legislation, process…) - Share the realities of different European countries and bring an intercultural perspective of migration - Develop critical thinking skills, especially about medias - Create a media support, with a focus on video - Create more links between young Europeans - Experiment volunteering and active citizenship. - Become ambassadors of tolerance and solidarity towards migrants
