Objectives

This project tackles the topic of trash, waste and upcycling. It's clearly connected to the topic of environment, climate change and sustainability. These topics really matter regarding the events and demontstrations that happened in 2018 and begining of 2019 for the climat, environment in Belgium but also in the whole world. These events showed that there are a lot of people who are ready to do a step in the direction of sustainable development. (Young) people have a lot of good will but not always concrete idea of what to do, some of them doesn't have the keys and all the informations to make a step in this direction. This project will be a very good opportunity for them to learn few things thanks to the activities that will be proposed. Moreover, with this project we want to reach youngsters who doens't pay attention to sustainable developpement. This project will be the opportunity for us to show to them that sustanability doesn't mean giving up everything and that with simple actions we can already have a better impact on the environment. By focusing on upcycling we want to highlight and address topics such as environment and sustainable development. We want through manual activities and a bit of theoretical activities raise awareness on the importance of switching from a model that follows a linear production (Production, distribution, consumption and wastes) to a different model: circular -that doesn’t stop after wastes. We want to talk about the circular economy which includes among others things the ideas of : reuse, repair, upcycling and recycling. Ideas that fit into sustainable development. We want to show what we can gain as a person/a community by following this model and what will be the impact on the environment, the society and the planet. Following this model we will have a positive economical, environmental and social impact. We believe that if young people from different countries keep meeting around this kind of project and keep exchanging, their behavior but also the behavior of people around them and then the behavior of people from their country will change faster, and will help us to reach easilier the sustainable development. Why manual activities? to include everyone even young people who don’t speak well english. The activities have be designed to give the opportunities to these youngsters to express their thoughts, their knowledge with other means that their words. Project: YE in Belgium The aims: to raise awareness about sustainability and Wastes, how to reduce wastes and what can be done with it. Sustainability is also about economy so we will show to participants that sustainable development is also job-creating (and saving money) and upcycling can become a professional activity. Finally, this project will be an opportunity for young people with fewer opportunities to do a first mobility. Specifics objectives: Promote Intercultural diversity, linguistic learning, tolerance, respect, diversity Promote mobility opportunities for education and employment Promote sustainable lifestyle as an opportunity for employment Develop better understanding of the concepts link to the topic Discovering what is upcycling and how to reduce waste Better understanding of circular economy Be aware of what is happening in Europe Reflexion about his own behavior
