Objectives

YFU year-long intercultural exchange programmes for high school students aim to promote diversity and intercultural dialogue. Dedicated volunteers and youth workers shape this first-hand intercultural experience and make it possible through finding suitable host families, supporting the student and the family, counselling whenever needed and making sure that the educational offer - intercultural education in a form of “orientations” - takes place. Those volunteers and youth workers, who are at the core of YFU work, need support and training both from the national and European level in order to be able to provide quality non-formal education events and through them be able to further advance intercultural understanding, mutual respect and social responsibility as stated in the mission of YFU. "Open Doors to Education" is a training for trainers and will focus on developing competencies which are needed to design and run successful non-formal education events. Since training and facilitation are competencies highly sought at the job market, it is expected that the participation in this training course will greatly enhance the employability and career prospects of participants, not to mention the increased self-empowerment and self-esteem. PROJECT AIMS AND OBJECTIVES “Open Doors to Education” aims to provide participants with necessary tools to successfully run and prepare NFE intercultural events for any age group. The specific objectives of this training course are to: • increase participants’ competencies to design, implement and evaluate educational activities • improve participants’ skills in group dynamics management, presentation, communication and facilitation skills • increase participants’ knowledge of the latest concepts of culture and innovative learning tools • provide a possibility for practical application of newly gained competencies and receive feedback through preparation and delivery of a local orientation for Host Siblings and Host Parents • strengthen the collaboration on training between YFU organisations
