ALUMNI is a 5 days ALUMNI-gathering with students/professionals with different ages and different job contents, that finished the training by Via Experientia. 4 different European countries will participate. The project will take place in COMPOT, Doornzele (Belgium) during the period of 25 - 30 of August 2019 in order to share and inspire each other in using experiential learning as a method. Via Experientia is an informal European organization; is a group of experts with the passion of deep learning; is a training course; is a way to contribute at international level to the educational system; is an educational concept, is an “International Academy of Experiential Education”; is a way to facilitate learning process; is a way to approach at experience for long life! Is the way to make your life journey interesting. The main aim of the project is: To improve the quality of working in an experiental way (youth work, management, policy) by sharing good practices, inspire each other, by giving each other competences and tools of using the method experiental learning in our work. By keeping the study of Via Experientia alive! Within LEJO we implement the method of experiental learning in our overall organisation on three levels: In working with our target group, different teams (free time/education/teenmums/policy/…) that work every day to maintain our objectives and in our policy of the organisation. In order to pass on the experiences to international partners, we think of it as an added value to let the ALUMNI-meeting take place at our own experiential site, COMPOT. A site where we work daily with youngsters who are lost and can’t find motivation to go to school or to work. Main objective is to organise meaningful daily activities. Starting from the youngsters’ desires and the question of what will give the youngster energy to make his/her day meaningful, youngsters start to reflect on what gives them power, energy and meaning in life. Together with volunteers that provide different workshops (walking - ceramics - chopping wood - maintaining vegetable garden - music - cooking…) we create opportunities for youngsters to participate whenever they want or feel like. Coaching group dynamics is our favorite way of spending time there. We strongly believe that working in a group can be of great value for any individual. Experiencing yourself within a certain dynamic that a group has, teaches you a lot about yourself. As a facilitator, we guide the group in order for them to learn from each other. Marieke and Kat will create a safe climate where the participants can experiment with themselves and the group. In order for them all to develop as a person and as a professional. This ALUMNI- events sets the following main objectives: - to share different perspectives and reflect about your own values and norms - to provide facilitated space for exchanging information and realities in different countries of the participants to get a deeper understanding of the diversity of this topic - to deepen the understanding of main concepts of experiential learning - to explore the role(s) concerning your job in the inclusion process - to share good practices, tools, methods relevant for participants - to explore further possibilities of projects and cooperations on this topic within the framework of the Erasmus + programme and beyond -to develop participants’ soft skills (Team work, cooperation, communication, flexibility, crisis response…) and competences (Facilitation, planning, self awareness, group awareness…) relevant for their work with young people of minority backgrounds. -to provide deeper understanding of group processes and dynamics, intra and inter-personal awareness and role of the facilitator in these processes. - to provide a safe climate where participants fully participate in the learning process and take a ownership on their experience and be its craftsmen. - intercultural learning through dialogue with each other - learn to reflect on offered matter - learn to cooperate / live together at the campsite - handing out the youth pass With this project we want to highlight the needs and issues of 'experiential learning'. It is about a different form of learning in which competencies acquired elsewhere can be achieved. Within an international group you notice that there is a lot of difference between various European countries in assigning competencies and this is a need to work together on this. This is a function of young people who can achieve their competences in a different way, which can give them self-confidence, knowledge, insight, personal growth, but also makes them stronger on the current labor market.
