Objectives

the main goal of this project is: We want to give our youth officers inspiration, knowledge, another (international) context/point of view and the possibility to exchange with the civil servants and organisations of Leeds about the subject childfriendly cities. In Flanders, you can earn the label 'childfriendly city (municipality)' as a local government by submitting a portfolio which is a result of a process that proofs that the child rights (of UNICEF in 1989) are the guidelines of the local policy of the municipality. Each municipality has the right to make their own choices adjusted to the local context. So each municipality is unique, therefore there's a need to exchange knowhow, good examples, tips, tricks and traps with other civil servants of municipalities/cities who have earned the childfriendly label. This exchange is a new step to improve the skills and knowledge of the Flemish and English civil servants and to gain new ideas to improve the concept of childfriendly cities. The general objectives for both activities: o The participants learn and exchange about the different interpretations and translations of the concept of Child friendly cities to improve their own work and quality of the local youth work (broad). o Create an international awareness among the participants. We can learn from each other context also beyond the borders. We face the same challenges about immigrants, children with fewer opportunities and refugees. Specific objectives/aims: 1. Participants get to know and learn from each other presentation about the local translation of the concept Child friendly city/municipality. 2. Participants of Flanders get to know the Child friendly concept of Leeds via the field visits and make translation to their own context during the daily reflections. 3. Participants of Leeds get to know the different concepts of the Flemish Child friendly program during the field visits linked with the topics that will be presented. 4. Participants exchange and learn how you can reach different target groups like children with fewer opportunities, immigrants and refugees. 5. Participants get to know the Erasmus+ program, the different options and possibilities to learn and improve by doing international work.
