Background

With the transformation of the Dr. P. Beron Boarding Auxiliary School into a Center for Special Educational Support /CSES/ students with special educational needs /SEN/ are enrolled in a general education or vocational school. The school is the only center for students with mental retardation in the Kardzhali region. In 2014, we implemented a project that improved and landscaped areas in the school yard and the sports field. During the 2016/17 academic year, a mobility project for students with SEN was implemented in Northern Italy. The impact on the participants was extremely positive, both professionally and personally. The students improved their professional training in floristry and landscaping, increased their environmental culture, gained self-confidence and initiative.. At the end of the project, a need for upgrading was identified - more closely linking the individual needs of students with SEN with teaching methods, building connections between educational centers for students with SEN with employers, working with mentors, which motivated us to apply for this project. The goal is to achieve the full development of the individual potential of the students by improving their professional training to guarantee employment.
